It took me way too long to finally start reading Sandman (Preludes was, in fact, the very first book I added to my want-to-read list upon creating a Goodreads account over a decade ago.

At the start of the series, Morpheus is captured by an occult ritual and held prisoner for 70 years. Critic Hilary Goldstein described the comic book as "about the concept of dreams more so than the act of dreaming".

Although the artwork is not really my style, it's a little too harsh and lacks a certain smoothness I prefer in my graphic novels, it does fit the story and the characters and the world. What ever aspects were the graphics land outside of my personal preference zone is compensated by the dimension of the vision, which just started to scratch the endless surface of these pages. I haven't watched the Netflix series yet, but I've heard it's quite faithful to the graphic novels, and I will eventually check it out to see how true that is.
