About this deal

Dreams and Fairy Tales: The Theme of Rationality in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'The Sandman' ". The Sandman grew out of a proposal by Neil Gaiman to revive DC's 1974–1976 series The Sandman, written by Joe Simon and Michael Fleisher and illustrated by Jack Kirby and Ernie Chua. Kirby is a household name, having worked with both Marvel and DC Comics, creating storylines that paved the way for epic events.

After a several years break from any Sandman Universe stories save for Lucifer, Dream made a surprising appearance in the 2017-18 line-wide event Metal as a sort of ephemeral shepherd to Bruce Wayne. Prachett was much more famous than the neophyte Gaiman (it was his first novel), and the book was popular. The Sandman: Act III was released on September 28, 2022, without a prior announcement, and featured most of the cast from the first two acts, adapting Brief Lives, and Worlds' End. Geoff Johns' Aquaman completely revitalized the character, and his collection in omnibus form truly cements the growth that Aquaman has undergone in the New 52, tackling the jokes Aquaman has endured throughout his career and producing iconic storylines such as "The Trench.Any updates are very minor and are mostly around making sure the material that might not have aged well has been updated for 2022. A series written by James Tynion IV that focuses on nightmares including The Corinthian, in support of the Netflix adaptation.

Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus collects the Fourth World storyline that was written and drawn by Kirby from 1970 to 1973.

Critic Hilary Goldstein described the comic book as "about the concept of dreams more so than the act of dreaming". Gaiman's approach to scripting the series became more difficult as the complex storyline and characters developed. He starred in his own featured stories in Adventure Comics (1939) until 1946, at which point he disappeared from DC continuity for 20 years.

The list is a good mix of Sandman spin-offs, other Neil Gaiman work, comic adaptions of his prose, and a few graphic novels that the author loves. As a rule, they also include copious supplementary material on the series' creation and production, though these extras are of considerably variable interest and quality. This massive hardcover collection reprints Neil Gaiman’s seminal, award-winning The Sandman: Overture, plus The Sandman: Dream Hunters and his two acclaimed stories featuring Morpheus’s sister Death. The Knightfall storyline is a trilogy published between 1993 and 1994, and consists of the titles Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. On September 16, 2014, Deadline reported that DC and Fox were developing a television series based on the Sandman character Lucifer created by Neil Gaiman. Generally, there is no reason you would want anything but the newest version unless you are seeking the original coloring of the first 18 issues – which you can see in versions prior to the 2010 “New Editions” of the first three volumes.
