The 7" vinyl release claims to be remastered versions of songs recorded in 1969 at Thorn Industrial Audio Recording Studios, Hollywood. According to Kelsey Chapstick of Revolver, "Kiss the Go-Goat" explores the favorite theme of Tobias Forge, leader of Ghost and the musician behind their Papa Emeritus character; " Lucifer, and the joy of giving yourself over to him. While "Go-Goat" is presumably the A-side, the B-side "Mary on a Cross" easily steals the show with its half-romantic, half-nostalgic tone, its impeccable harmonies, and great hooks, quite possibly being one of the best songs the group has put out to date. The original recording then became the band's first to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 when it reached number 90 in September.

Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve. Forge has been hesitant to explain the meaning behind the song, but admits there are multiple layers to the lyrics; "The chorus is written very tongue in cheek of course.Similar to the video for "Kiss the Go-Goat", it features grainy, Super 8-like footage that is purported to be of Ghost performing in Los Angeles on 13 September 1969. The band released their third studio album, Meliora, in 2015 to much critical acclaim and high record sales, reaching number one in their home country of Sweden, and number eight in the United States. Been looking for this for a while and thought I’d share, since scalpers are asking way too much everywhere else. Just be careful not to do what I did, that is, slap it so much that loads comes out at once, all over your chicken nuggets! The character, which consists of Forge in a prosthetic mask and makeup, can be best described as a 'demonic anti-pope'. Even with the more prominent organ and goofy delay effects, however, it's the same Ghost-tier songwriting one would come to expect from one of their releases. Kiss the Go-Goat" is a rollicking tune that one could imagine being played in some warped 60s nightclub. In 2010, they released a three-track demo followed by a 7-inch vinyl titled "Elizabeth", and later their debut full-length album Opus Eponymous. Although they made no official announcement with that track’s release, the music video includes a shot of Papa Emeritus holding a vinyl entitled Seven Inches of Satanic Panic.
