About this deal

Nikon's 10-24mm isn't a constant-aperture lens, but it offers slightly more room on the telephoto end. Bokeh (background blur quality) is not easy to discern in a lens this wide - and is not real important for the uses I have for a lens such as this one. A feature worth commenting, which is also related to lens brightness, is that the brightness and maximum aperture-value remains constant regardless of focal length used.

At a 16-32 mm equivalent to the full frame camera versions, this lens lets me compose wide angle shots that are sometimes limited on APS-C cameras. Nikon managed to reduce significantly the size in all new AF-P lenses, partly by skipping the AF-A/M, AF-M and VR on/VR off switches. Took one out during our family vacation to Vegas and the Grand Canyon (actually, part of the reason I bought it along with a need for an extra wide for my Real Estate business). One piece of glass mold and two hybrid aspherical lenses, offer excellent correction for distortion, as well as all types of aberration. But this nothing new, manual override has been featured in most of the recent Nikkkor lenses – except for the cheapest one.In other areas, the Nikon 12-24 beats the Sigma 10-20 in terms of shading ("vignetting"), chromatic aberration (over most of its aperture/focal length range, at least), and geometric distortion. We've selected a group of cameras that are easy to keep with you, and that can adapt to take photos wherever and whenever something memorable happens. Some of our partners may process your data as a part of their legitimate business interest without asking for consent. I've used it a lot in my photography of landscapes, and it is quite sharp with a nice ability to take 77mm filters. There is also the risk of a problem that results in the lens and body manufacturers directing blame at each other.

Used Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM - Nikon Fit | MPB

Most of my landscape photos turned out great, but there was a nagging concern as many of my 'closer focus' photos were all out of focus or horribly soft. It is easy to get bright lights in an angle of view this wide, so flare can be an issue with the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5. I do not get much time to shooting landscapes these days but whenever I do, I bring this beauty along. less vignetting at the same aperture settings at the mid and longer focal lengths, has less distortion and is sharper. If you want a bag that doesn't look like a camera bag or prefer to make your own DIY solutions, they're worth a look.Naturally there should be some proportion of good samples, but I've never had anything as bad as that before or since. The focus and zoom controls operate smoothly, although the zoom ring felt a little stiffer than we personally prefer. The original Sigma ultrawide-angle zoom still holds its own, being slightly sharper at the telephoto end of its spectrum than the newer version. EX DC HSM Lens is solidly built and weighs in at the middle of its class - but these weight differences are not that big.

I think my 18-135 might be sharper and around the same barrel distortion amount as this Sigma lens (which is rather minimal on long side of the 10-20) at 18-20mm. shows slightly less flare, shows slightly less vignetting at wide open apertures, has the fixed max aperture advantage, has a smaller (and included) lens hood and costs less. and save me money but also makes life simpler when I only need to carry one set of filters for all the lenses I will be using during the day. It is capable of superb images but I find focus and exposure can be really off at times (many times).

Long story short, It is not a bad lens but it is no better than the much less expensive 10-20mm that Sigma also sells. The larger aperture of course means the lens itself has become larger and heavier, as well as more expensive than its slower sibling. My fault obviously, but I just want to highlight that it is easier to forget about this with AF-P lenses. and found it waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soft wide open and hated the huge plastic ring extending out past the diameter of the lens so it went back. In overall impression the Sigma is comparable to the Tamron, a bit warmer but with similar contrast.
