Well, Slash is definitely my favorite guitarist of all times and Guns N' Roses is one of my top three favorite bands, so there was a lot at stake here. The Standard edition offers a widely accessible version of the coffee-table book featuring 364 pages in hardcover, in a slightly more compact size of 240 x 340 mm (9. Slash may have done a lot of drugs, but from what he tells us, he didn't do many "exciting" things while on them. It´s Slash´s own story, his take on what went down, and you come away with a feeling you know him, which is what any autobiography should achieve. he was such a severe alcoholic that he drank around four liters of vodka every day (not counting in the beer and whiskey he did at night).

We continue to leverage our iconic past and lean into the future creating more opportunities for music fans around the world to experience original storytelling. From one of the greatest rock guitarists of our era comes a memoir that redefines sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll He was born in England but reared in L. You don't pick up Slash because Slash is a compelling, interesting guy who gives amazing speeches about what he believes; you pick it up to find out what it was like to be lead guitarist in the greatest American rock 'n' roll band of all time! While Slash has always been adamant about the fact that he acquires guitars for their playability rather than pedigree, this Les Paul is one that offers both in equal measure. I haven’t pulled it out and played it in a long time, because the tailpiece is threatening to come off and I had to bolt it down,” Slash says. Axl sounds complex, interesting and fucking annoying: he´s a far more nuanced, damaged character than Slash, and more intruguing.

Mostly it's just an enjoyable read, because if there's one thing you can say for Slash it's that he hasn't led a boring life. Once you’ve lived a little you will find that whatever you send out into the world comes back to you in one way or another.

For fans looking to hear that sound, tune your ears to Guns N’ Roses’ cover of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door. It's 2005, Slash has just finished touring with Velvet Revolver after the release of their first album the year prior. He had a very bad addiction to a variety of different drugs, but was in time, able to overcome and get his life back on track. He takes us through the darkest times of his love affair with heroin, and Vodka; and although a good chunk of the book seems disappointingly vague because he was too wasted to remember much detail, (“My memory of the events is hazy…”) there is one crazy hallucination story that just tops it all. Not to say that there isn't drug use here - there certainly is, including one memorable anecdote where Slash finds himself running naked across a golf course, pursued by little monsters only he can see.
