William Slingsby discovered the unique properties of the natural spring water from Harrogate’s Tewit Well in 1571.Over 400 years ago, William Slingsby put Harrogate on the map when he discovered properties in the local spring water that were thought to give it restorative and therapeutic properties. The recipe was developed using Slingsby London dry, which includes an impressive array of botanicals, grown in and arround Harrogate. Notes of citrus, spice and juniper play a supporting role and add complexity, both when neat and once tonic is added. This gin combines the citrus taste of our London Dry with the fruity and tangy flavour of gooseberries. Slingsby Marmalade gin again starts with London Dry as a base but is then enhanced with a mixture of citrusy flavours to create a pleasant, light and tangy gin.
These unique ingredients are complemented with water drawn from the world-famous Harrogate aquifer, pure single grain spirit and a handful of the finest ingredients sourced from around the world. We suggest pairing it with a premium tonic water and then garnishing the drink with grapefruit peel and fresh blueberries. Refresh your palate by serving our Gooseberry gin with a premium Mediterranean tonic and some fresh slices of green apple.
