About this deal

Didn’t find the plot as enjoyable as his other work but it was a really good introductory text to the era. Stone Age Boy concerns a young boy who wakes up and finds that he has somehow been transported back to the stone age.

The illustrations are interesting and educational, but I was disappointed that besides a brief reference to picking berries, the author only discusses food preparation and collection in terms of meat. This beautifully illustrated mat includes a range of exciting adjectives to describe the characters and settings in the story. I have seen this page used to inspire writing as well as alongside teaching of how people lived in the Stone Age. The use of ellipses throughout helps build interest and suspense which really drew the children in and made room for plenty of predictions.

This is a fun time-travel tale that takes a young boy back to The Stone Age, where he learns how cave people lived. We’ve teamed up with Walker Books to bring you a range of engaging activities themed around the wonderful book ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. And I really liked the author's note at the end of the book that explains the inspiration for the tale.First, get children thinking about the two characters using the handy PowerPoint, before moving on to complete one or both of the activity sheets. Using both the text and illustrations, learners are asked to think about the similarities and differences between the pair. With worksheets, PowerPoints, fun activities, games and more, there is the perfect supply of resource for planning and implementing some great lessons for your class. Children have enjoyed reading and have then create their own books by changing a character and creating their own descriptions. The book ‘Stone Age Boy’ is perfect to introduce children to the Stone Age in an engaging and child friendly way.

This resource is also available as part of a Stone Age bundle which also contains a DT textiles unit of work for the same topic, saving you 20% of the total cost. Can you use these to perform a play in which the characters explain and compare what their lives are like? While there he befriends a girl of his own age, learns about how they lived, hunted and made do with the somewhat primitive tools and lodgings they had. This amazing picture book about the Stone Age is entertaining and educational at the same time, my year 3/4 class loved it. You can also create a stand-out display for your classroom using our beautifully illustrated resources. This book gave the children a lot of discussion points and allowed a lot of questions for them to ask. This Reading Skills resource contains a range of questions about 'Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. The Stone Age is split into three parts; Palaeolithic (old Stone Age), Mesolithic (middle Stone Age) and the Neolithic (new Stone Age).

The cyclical nature of the book is also really lovely, with the same picture repeated twice to symbolise the time travel. Created in partnership with Walker Books, our activities are perfect to use with your learners in class or your own little ones at home. Evidence from elsewhere in Europe shows that people living in caves decorated their walls with pictures of animals . The ending was my absolute favourite with the picture and a simple sentence as it had so much impact and drove home the idea that cave paintings were discovered by historians many years later and can be used as evidence. Mixing flight of fancy with prehistoric facts, Satoshi Kitamura ushers us back to a time of surprising innovation and artistic expression, shown in cave paintings visible to this day.Step back 15,000 years as a modern boy enters a Stone Age village and learns a few prehistoric tricks of the trade. A fantastic story linking straight into a Stone Age topic with plenty of fun, friendship and facts along the way! Alongside this Stone Age Boy Reading Comprehension, we have a wealth of other resources to support reading this exciting story by Satoshi Kitamura. However, I would have preferred if the portraiture was a little longer with a little more detail and a little more fun.
