About this deal

If I really want to see a movie again, I will check my many streaming services first, and if not on them, I will just rent it. The critics might warn us that something is the cinematic equivalent of junk food, but indulging in a bit of junk now and then is, if anything, a luxury to be relished. Movie is absolutely killing it at the box office and is now the highest grossing video game movie adaptation by a looong ways, completely and utterly deservingly so.

Its likely it won't start streaming until the theatrical release is over, but the premium rentals and sales just squeeze extra cash from those who don't want to wait to stream for "free" but didn't want to go to the cinema. The only things I kept was things that were extremely rare and stuff that wasn't likely to be available on a streaming device anywhere.Had thoughts about seeing it in theaters but the cost for what I read was only an 86 minute movie put me off. The Rescuers Down Under, the very first pure digital feature film, is also lost, so they had to use a filmout even for the Blu-ray and Disney+ releases, when Disney was the one to popularise pure digital transfers with A Bug’s Life and Tarzan’s DVD releases. There have been rumours about the Mario Movie launching on streaming services this month and now we've got some developments.

Not sure if I can say it deserves all the success it gets, because it has received a simply flabbergasting amount of success, but I’m glad it’s received a good amount of it! I feel very privilidged to become a story that someone passes through their family or friends and affects their life in some way.

Similarly, ARRI only make digital cameras these days, and if you want to shoot with film you have to rent a "Impeccably maintained" vintage camera from their archives, and thats becoming harder and more expensive as they are degrading over time. While the 4kUHD of Back to the Future is a huge improvement over the BD, it still could have been so much better if Universal actually cared and did a proper restoration. RetroGames Yeah, as a big Mario and Nintendo fan I'd say it's a 9/10 because of those issues, but close to a 10/10 for me too as my only personal gripe is that it's short and I wanted to see even more of it, watched it in Italian once day one alone and once with my sister and her boyfriend later since they hadn't watched it yet and can't wait to rewatch it at least once in English and once in Japanese when the DVDs come out (or if I find it elsewhere before, but still getting those for collection regardless)! Even if you settle on a cheaper 2D showing, there's no advantage in watching a film print of it as oposed to a decent DCP. They're entirely free to do so, of course, but I do not respect their taste on such things or indeed their understanding of what makes a great movie.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie [DVD] [2023] - UK

Streaming a film is slightly different as you don't own it, usually it'll be part of a subscription service. Don't get me wrong I do still have a few classics on Blu-ray from my childhood that I'd never part with, Back to the Future trilogy, Leathal weapon just to give you a few examples. I think most adults unfamiliar with Mario and/or the games would probably find it pretty insubstantial, but still good for some laughs and shallow fun. The movie bombed on early results and then all of a sudden people started doing 'Bruno' dances on social and attitudes changed. He so inspired me to push myself to make more ambitious shots and not just keep making cheap and easy budget movies for a quick buck.
