About this deal

Stuck at the top of a tower block, can Doug find his way back to his friend or will he be trapped forever? Gordon is having a great time travelling with the circus when a storm hits their ship, leaving them stranded on an island! Bird was using it as a nest, but it was too heavy; Bear used it in his drum kit, but it was too tiny; the Squirrels built sand castles with it. In personifying the vegetables in a positive way, it creates a real buzz and excitement for eating fruit and veg, so this can be reinforced by teaching them about healthy eating and balanced diets. A carrot is stuck down on a conveyor belt with bandages, the broccoli has silly faces drawn on them, and a cucumber is wrapped in toilet paper.

This is a book which will stretch your imagination, celebrate differences and fire up your storytelling brain. This story of the evil pea against the other vegetables will no doubt appeal to children and their inherent sense of right and wrong!

This snowball picks up not only snow, but a myriad of other odd things on his way down—a sheep, a line of washing, a bicycling bear, ending up in the Zoo. Christopher Pumpkin is delighted to be magicked to life by a witch — until he discovers she wants him and the other pumpkins to get her creepy castle ready for the spookiest party ever! It's showtime in the supermarket as Supertato and the veggies put on their very own production of Jack and the Beanstalk, starring The Evil Pea as Jack and Supertato as Jack's mum. But as the candles on his party hat begin to burn and the other party guests start to sing, Cake starts to think that this is one party he’d rather not be at.

But with someone out to spoil the fun, can Supertato and the veggies stop their colourful carnival from turning into a carnival catastro-pea?I would argue that you don't need both, but that's not a very popular opinion 'round these here parts. An innovative concept, playing on the excitement of superheroes but with a real twist: it is all about vegetables, a superhero potato, and a mischievous evil pea causing havoc in the supermarket isles.

The first book in the bestselling SUPERTATO series by picture book superstars Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet! And for adults, it is the true story what frozen peas get up to when they escape from the packet and you know that you haven't found them all. Having seen it used within a Year 1 classroom during a week's work experience, I decided to revisit it for my first book of the challenge. Unfortunately, the back cover of the book displays other titles in this series, and the others have been requested, repeatedly. A lonely young snowball, stuck at the top of a mountain, decides to visit the local town for a bit of fun—but on his way he trips, falls, and starts to roll.

The story is really versatile in terms of how it could be used in a whole class setting but is also wonderfully humourous for children to enjoy simply at face value. Through quick witted writing and easy to navigate illustration, this book is a great read for young KS1 children. He studied Graphic Design at Derby University, and later moved back to Brighton where he met Sue Hendra.
