All sessions are facilitated by a Switched on Computing training associate trained and quality assured by HES – including DBS checks. Switched on Online Safety is a very effective framework to support this, providing regular opportunities for pupils to become confident, sensible and wise online explorers. such as forward, turn left etc which will not be available on the version installed on the machines. We do however understand that some schools want a bit of extra help and guidance to implement it across the school.Beyond work he has been a governor of 3 primary schools, plus a secondary school and is currently a governor/member of two secondary MATs in Essex.

With this in mind, we have worked with the author of Learn to Code Practice Books, Claire Lotriet, to put together four complete activities for KS1 to UKS2 to teach maths through computing. CAS members, particularly those in the classroom, are playing a key part in shaping its development. Amanda has worked with Rising Stars on the development of Bett Award winning Switched on Computing, Switched on Online Safety and other titles.

This issue takes a good hard look at the run up to the introduction of the new Computing curriculum in September 2014 and contains several articles aimed at advising teachers as they begin to plan their curriculum.
