About this deal

You will enjoy the werewolves, the creepy house with its ill-fated histories, and the unpredictability.

This is the 30th book, but considering Alex has survived "Kill Alex Cross" before, chances are he survives this one. So far I’m the only person to have written about it because it was unbelievably difficult to track down the people involved, some of whom are no longer with us or who have vanished. True Horror makes references to the many spiritualists that visited Heol Fanog, but there’s a big character the show doesn’t portray: exorcist Eddie Burks. This book is a perfect choice if you are in the mood for an outstanding character-driven haunted-house story. What you don’t get to hear about are all the pieces of work that never break surface, because: what’s the point?Mark has been described as 'a contemporary bard - a post-industrial Taliesin whose visionary novels are crammed with remixed mythologies, oneiric set pieces, potent symbols, unsettling imagery and an engaging fusion of genre elements. A publishing industry on the ropes has slashed advances, and the black arts of publishing accounting means royalties sometimes take a while to surface in your bank (most authors don’t even make any royalties). Bill then noticed the house “grew noticeably brighter” as if “another light source had been illuminated". The people who give their testimonies in this book will unveil one of the most startling cases of the paranormal ever to be documented, a case which starts with a haunting and carries on into the shadows.

His journalism has appeared in almost all UK national newspapers as well as several magazines including Empire, Marie Claire, Select, and You. As Bill Rich and I talked, I realised The Independent had only scratched the surface of what had happened in that house. But then, one night, they are visited…and their ordeal really begins, one that defies all explanation. I’m sure Liz would be keen to hear from anyone with gallery space or the wherewithal to make it happen.

Combining the best elements of a spy thriller, heroic fantasy and Elizabethan mystery, Chadbourn deftly mixes gruesome brutality, a shadowy world of plots and counter-plots and a vivid cast of characters. I’ve just signed a three-book deal with Penguin Random House for a new series which will be of interest to James Wilde readers *and* Mark Chadbourn readers (particularly if you liked Age of Misrule).
