I never saw the biggest reveal coming, which is incredibly rare for me, and therefore something I treasure! However, its kind of a fun trainwreck watching Emma, the detective and careen through her investigation and the entertaining policemen she has to deal with. As he plunges into the muddy depths of Sebastian’s troubled home life, Daniel thinks back to his own childhood in foster care – and to Minnie, the woman whose love saved him, until she, too, betrayed him so badly that he cut her out of his life.

Now he is trying to recover from the trauma of that day while balancing the expectations of the town and it’s press who view him as a hero and keeping his temper in check at work with his colleagues who don’t trust him as know one but Cal knows what really happened in that office building, and his mind is blocked it out. My favorite authors are Carlos Ruiz Zafon (RIP), Gregg Hurwitz, Tana French, Brian Michael Bendis, Stieg Larsson (RIP), Henning Mankel, Nick Petrie, and Don Bentley.

Blye had befriended him and orchestrated his firing to rile him up to the point of shooting the place up. Fuqua got his start in music videos, and it’s easy to imagine a version of this movie from earlier in his career relying heavily on fast cuts, impressionistic lighting, and dramatic angles to juice the limited action. I liked that Emma was a complicated character, and both she and Angela, in particular, were multi-layered and real feeling which you don't always get with these type of procedural books that focus more on plot than characterization.I occasionally felt however, that just as I was being truly gripped by one mystery I was torn away and dragged back to the other. This is such a great book it’s long but you will not want to put it down or stop reading it so make sure you have the time. Metacritic gave the film a weighted average score of 63 out of 100 based on 35 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
