And the boat being in a lake, not a stream, makes me this it’s probably referencing something I don’t know of. These are catalogue records from participating libraries, which vary even among copies of the same edition, and many provide no description or nothing useful.A Jolly Postman delivers letters to several famous fairy-tale characters such as the Big Bad Wolf, Cinderella, and the Three Bears. It is jam packed with lots of sweet illustrations and little extras which I am sure would children love to explore independently. It would be suitable for Early Years, however it is unlikely that they would be able to read it all. Among the characters he encounters, he meets Cinderella, The Big Bad Wolf and Jack and The Beanstalk. The two married in 1969, and began to work together, publishing their first co-venture - The Old Joke Book - in 1976.Sing some songs about transport; for example ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ or ‘Down at the Station, Early in the Morning’. An activity using this story could be to incorporate their favourite character from another book and suggest what the postman could deliver to them. On his travels he meets Alice in Wonderland , the hobgoblins, Wizard of Oz characters, follows the yellow brick road and has an accident and the last picture is the Postman in bed reading his book [also in the pocket] All pockets complete with contents including lens. The book also contains wonderful and beautifully illustrated resources, rich vocabulary and the whole story rhymes which I really enjoyed. Whilst it is true that even the youngest of readers should be exposed to rich vocabulary, I personally would avoid reading it with readers younger than five, simply owing to its length. Included in the collection are colouring pages that have been hand-drawn by our talented illustrators.

The Jolly Pocket Postman incorporates other stories, like Alice and Wonderland and Little red riding hood, The Wizard of Oz, The gingerbread man and Rapunzel. Children will love opening the envelopes to read a letter from Goldilocks, a postcard addressed to a giant up a beanstalk.
