Hot Fuss floats boatloads of blasé lyrics about the pressures of being fabulous and the politics of fucking over an easily sippable blend of 80s and 90s British pop influences, rarely pausing to test the end product. I suppose it would be a red flag that it says the release is 2011 which would be impossible since Lizard no longer owns the rights. This version was really hard to find in the UK even at the time (Change Your Mind was my favourite track so I didn't want to get the UK pressing without it) and in the end I asked a friend in the States to nab me one if she ever saw it on sale.I have this bought in london 2004, lizard 011x not numbered but says in the credits 'uk pre press production Paul Agar' on light blue vinyl that is marbled when held to the light.

The track listing for this new vinyl appears to be the original UK one, with Glamorous Indie Rock And Roll in place of Change Your Mind. But why does it try to squeak by as another deft pop reversion when it actually seems to be a revisionist cash dance?All tracks are produced by Jeff Saltzman and the Killers, except "Everything Will Be Alright", produced by Brandon Flowers. The Killers might hail from one of the USA's most quintessentially American cities (Las Vegas), but their debut album Hot Fuss displays an Anglophilic streak that is an ocean wide. We threw away everything [we were working on] and the only song that made the cut and remained was 'Mr. Yes, Casablancas, et al ripped off pieces of their sound, too, but that's the difference-- they already did the ripping.In general i guess it sounds alright, to me it sounds a bit compressed and maybe somewhat quiet, but at least i didn't get bad surface noise as others, i'm still halfway through, let's see what else i find out. On July 22, 2013, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) certified the album seven-times platinum; [25] by August 2020, it had sold 2,335,495 copies in the UK.
