About this deal

This appears to be a case of Deep Impact/ Armageddon-style Hollywood synchronicity more so than outright thievery. On the day of her 13th birthday, Emilia's mother goes to the river next to their pub, sets up a tent, and stops speaking in apparent protest over. The Silencehas Bird Box’s strands of DNA scattered throughout it – from a hasty societal collapse to the concept of a hearing or vision loss being an advantage.

The only 'guidelines' they and Emilia have at all of what Rachel wanted to achieve are in Rachel's diaries, which are to be released for publication and for people to interpret what they will. Today, The Silence Project has blossomed into a varied programme of international exhibitions, seminars and a series of poignant events. A big novel, a story for our age that asks the central question: how to save an endangered world when there can no longer be heroes? A ferociously smart page turner, exploring how idealism curdles into fanaticism, silence into violence.Emilia reads her mum’s notebooks and she isn’t convinced, but she’s now trapped within The Community. They are not at all bad novels, but I am unsure as to whether they are “set the heather alight” novels. When so many elements ring true, it is off-putting to see how society could change like this in a matter of time. The use of her mother's notebooks and then her own experiences while working for the Community, made it believable and sinister. I have never wanted to discuss a book with someone more, this would be an ideal book club book, as it deserves the discourse after reading.

It has been widely reported that my father disagrees with my decision to allow publication of my mother’s notebooks and I want to take this opportunity to state that this is not correct. Our mission is to teach positive mental health strategies to help people become happier and more resilient. Juggling notions of silence as a luxury and silence as a right, Backman began to explore the idea in art. Silence threatens people because it's only wIt was portrayed in a realistic manner so that the dystopian elements were suitably disturbing, because it was not a stretch to see the events portrayed happening in this day and age. The Silence Project is 'written' by Emilia Morris (but really Carole Hailey, the author), who is telling the story of her life as the daughter of 'Rachel of Chalkham' in the hope of setting the record straight once and for all about her mother. I wasn’t sure what could follow her description of this, but her own story and life post-Event is just as important in the telling, as it shows how Rachel’s Community grew and changed following this, and was both scary and fascinating to read about.

The story is narrated by Rachel's daughter, which was an ingenious touch, as it explores the disconnect between the public figure and the maternal one. The Silence Project makes copious use of faux-citations and pseudo-references, which is a nice game and does not detract too much from the novel’s purpose. I was hungry for a feminist novel with a dystopian (or utopian) slant, and this delivered in spades.I have NetGalley and the publishers to thank for my free copy of this unusual novel that I may not have otherwise discovered. I was really intrigued by the premise of this book and had been looking forward to reading it for a while.

Trigger warnings: the story does cover some dark themes – suicide, etc – so may not be for everyone.Bones are less flammable because they need to be exposed to 1200°C to burn, although long before that the layer of fat which you carry under your skin will boil. In fact, once The Silenceactually gets around to telling the story it wants to tell, it does so rather capably.
