So when I came across The Summer House and realized it was a standalone novel instead of part of a long series, I decided to give it a chance. Renewing their collaborative efforts, James Patterson and Brendan DuBois present readers with an intense and thrilling read in this new standalone novel. I understand the author needed the characters for red herrings and was especially creative with the "G" initials to throw you off.Each member of the investigative team was patriotic, well intentioned, yet flawed individuals who make mistakes trying to do the right thing. Neither Lily nor Rose is where she expected to be, but the summer makes them both wonder if there’s more to life and love than what they’ve experienced so far. Because the reader knows what Flossy and Richard are planning for the family summer house, it's much more poignant than had it been a surprise.
