During that time, Lee moves in and out of her life, becoming more and more unstable and belligerent, and Charlotte moves from job to job, each more drab than the last, and the sum total causing her to “disappear” from her own life. Heartbreakingly beautiful characters and truly unpredictable twists and turns had me panicked, repeatedly checking how many pages I had left.I only wish that all cultures could experience The Whip; especially the ones that are oppressive to women. Sacramento and San Francisco were mentioned a lot, and I felt I was transported back to life in the 1800's.
