The depth and development continues to get better while taking you on an adventure that sends you away into another world full of kingdoms, monsters, steamy romance, and magic. I liked the background of fantasy warfare and medieval details, and how it didn't go into too much detail, still focusing on introversion and feelings. I also wish she would let them all know her father beat her and she is tougher than being given credit for.I actually gave it 3 stars because of this, although my opinion did change throughout the book because of how invested in the plot I got) However, at least, as I kept reading, I watched their relationship grow into something somehow cute. I’m happy to watch as Maxi develops more confidence and can assert for herself what she wants, breaking Riftan’s very flat expectations for her. Did Maxi use special magic for controlling golems, is there any Riftan POV during Maxi's study in Nornui? Although there is a smut scene, but I don't get distracted, instead can feel what kind of mood the character's currently have.
