I can manually release it via the hatch in the back seats, this alowwex me to find the broken wires on the hinge, replaced it with a brand new genuine vauxhall one, still no joy the boot doesnt open and the roof doesnt work. Essentially the only thing that happens is that the car refuses to unlatch, if someone presses the open button. Ok, well things have moved on slightly, still haven't had a chance to play with the boot latch/switch but this morning the mid high brake light was working again. I know my solenoid is sound, I have run a continuity test across the micro switch terminals and all seems good, the wiring loom visually appears sound and everything else, but everything works fine. Now I have no reason to doubt the garage, but is there a way to open the tailgate without entirely stripping the inside of the boot area?

However if I decide to fold down the roof, I push the button, the car does does everything correct, and once the roof is in the boot, the boot opens like it normally should. Wondering whether someone has experienced the same issue and can point me in the right direction before i either burn it, or take it to a stealer.If i had to put my money on something, i would bet on the wiring that goes from the car to the boot. If it is wiring or release mechanism, then this will offcourse not work, and i dont even know if opcom has this test for the K, it seems to be pretty lacking in options for the K, sadly. However after the car sat out side work for a day, it has stopped working again which would suggest the issue (as far as the brake light is concerned anyway) is in some way affected by cold, perhaps even as a result of water getting in somewhere it shouldn't be.Rather it sends a pulse to the BCM which in turn sends an unlock signal back to the hatch solenoid to pull the rod to unlock the catch. I have checked the fuse for the tailgate central locking using a multimeter and it was fine (not to mention on these you can visually see whether or not the fuse has blown) so logic would dictate that something is preventing the signal getting to the mechanism.

The boot light turned out to be dodgy wiring - everything tested OK, just the boot light wouldn't work. The roof ECU can be found under the right-hand side trim, right behind the rear seats, unplug it (2 plugs, one black, one blue). No idea how this had happened, as I had placed the net correctly in its seats at the back to the right and left. First thing you really need to check is the wiring loom that goes around the boot hinge on the left side. I also can't see any obvious way to remove the pod at the top of the tailgate to get to the break light. if it doesnt open easily, a little bit of a cleanout or grease (WD40) inside the latch normally does the job. It may also be that the roof safety mechanism hasnt engaged properly (this is to prevent the roof from being damaged when the boot has opened) .
