Caelum is hot af and Estrella is a smart and independent woman who sometimes makes mistakes but I love her anyway. The huge veil which hung between the two "holy places", with its beautiful artwork of angels, represented the separation betweeen "earth" and "heaven". Estrella's development into a violent and defiant POV was constantly entertaining, full of raw emotions.

Overall, I was intrigued by the storyline and worldbuilding, however, the characters and romance fell short for me. It took some time for me to start questioning the level of power he had but after those doubts were sown I just *knew* what was coming.Also, everyone and their grandmother could see that twist at the end coming from a mile away because we've read it before and the world building was so underwhelming. the love interest started becoming two-dimensional to me with his overprotectiveness in the last quarter of the novel.

I focused on my feet, on the way my too-large boots trudged through the leaves and underbrush on the ground.We can't remember what life is like for us in between physical incarnations when we dwell in the spirit realms. If you're a fan of JLA's From Blood and Ash and enjoy dagger to the throat meetings, fated mates, forced proximity, 'touch her and die', 'who hurt you', possessive alphaholes, exhibitionism, praise k! The book also holds some very clear similarities to other popular books, to the point where it seems to have very clearly borrowed other elements. When the Veil shatters after 400 years, Estrella's world is thrown into chaos - she is Marked, a human fated to be the mate to a Fae. The ‘point’ of the story and overall goal wasn’t super clear and wasn’t developed enough to keep me interested.
