you will keep your hands off my daughter if you value their current position at the ends of your arms.

I liked it because the storyline was interesting and it was unlike anything I have ever read before. Then there's the revolutionary component, with agitator Alexei, whose radical ideas lead to soldiers burning down his village. The Wolf Wilder is full of wonderful and memorable characters, but none so much as Feo herself, who is determined, a little bit wild and fiercely independent. A story of death, magic and the afterlife told by Marinka, who is desperate not to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps and wants to find her own destiny. The existence many would consider to be a harsh, lonely and isolated one is Feo’s version of pure happiness. As she skied in through the door, the wolves were chewing on the carcasses of two ravens, covering the statue of Mary with flecks of blood.

I was pleasantly surprised with the action packed battles and heartfelt alliances between the people starred. To the three men in gray coats and golden buttons just cresting the hill, the pantomime was a strange one. There would always be a pair of children at the centre of the stories – who looked, coincidentally, very like my brother and me – two children who joined the fight with both fists.I like the fact Feo didn't think she needed a friend and wolves were good companions because that is how I feel towards animals too. Her spirited, half-wild nature shines brightly on the page, even as her vulnerabilities endear her to readers’ hearts. Reading together doesn’t have to stop once your children can read for themselves – it’s still fun to read aloud to older children! Whilst reading Wolf Wilder I really liked the wide variety of characters, from Feo, the girl who lives with wolves, Sergei, the over-excited eight year old and Ilya, the ballet dancing soldier.

Rundell's prose is simple yet stirring; The Wolf Wilder is filled with lovely, eminently quotable bits. In retaliation, Rakov destroys their home, arrests Marina for treason, and vows to exterminate Feo and her wolves for good. Your last name will not appear on the site, but we need to know who you are in case you win a prize! The characters were well thought out: my favourite character in particular was Marina (Feo's mother) although she wasn't one of the main characters- I could sense she was brave, loving, intelligent and proud which gave me a real insight to her body features and what she perhaps did in the meantime when she wasn't included in the story. Also, I love the moral to the book- all you need is strong will, a good reason and a lot of resilience.

This was the kind of cold that you didn't sit down to think in, unless you wanted to be found dead in the same place in May or June. Her books have won many awards, including the Costa Children’s Book Award, the Blue Peter Book Award, and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

This is a book that had a huge emotional impact on me because I constantly had mixed emotion for every character, and I felt all the emotion they felt, such as a strong hate for General Raklov. Author Katherine Rundell brilliantly captures the wildness of childhood, and the bravery required to get through it. Rooftoppers was a breathtakingly brilliant book, because it was grounded in a world she knew well, and could twist into a unique view.when their home is burned and her mother imprisoned by general rakov, head of the tsar's imperial army, feo and her wolves escape into the bitter cold where feo plots her mother's rescue.
