About this deal

Joop Homme and JPG le Male, which I bought on the same day, kind of blurred my fragrance journey which would actually started in the following year, 2013.

I got Tabu (my faithful witchy signature at the time), Alyssa Ashley musk (which was meant to be a sexy androgynous animal scent, but had already suffered from reforms before I got ahold of it), Azarro Chrome (which to my knowledge is still as good as it ever was— clean, citrus-y, intoxicating-guy scent, but just a little too frat-guy for me to ever feel quite comfortable in), and a tiny bottle of JOOP!I used to date a guy who was obsessed with it and told me all the girls in the club always ask him what is he wearing. A man wearing JOOP Wow is the one who always trusts his instincts, remains loyal to his personality and is original and authentic. Luckily I have some light Zara Emotions fragrances I could use to layer my Joop into something lighter. Unfortunately the new formulations / reformulations are sadly watered down, disappointing little to do with the powerful fragrances so popular in the 90s. And even though i showered, washed my hand, and wore gloves at work day after i could pick it up at 15 in the afternoon again.

The person I gave it to said she liked it because it reminded her of her uncle who was rich in the 90s but isn't anymore. Joop does it's own thing, a thing that I avoided for some 30 years because in it's hey-day, Joop was the 'Lynx Africa' of its time, worn by absolutely every late teen to twenty something for at least the first few years after its release.

If only I'd taken the plunge back in the day I could have enjoyed Joop Homme the way it was meant to be enjoyed before it was neutered by meddling bureaucrats whose job it is is to murder classic fragrances because 1 in 1,234,346,454,768 individuals might have a reaction to tonka beans.

This is far from versatile but I personally think it smells really nice off the top but the dry down is as headache inducing as it gets. First sniff from the bottle may be traumatic, but once they smell it on my skin, they change their minds. I was bleaching my hair twice a month, and laying in the tanning bed twice a day, EVERY day… Don’t let my reminiscing fool you. In my opinion, this perfume was ahead of its time and is still a splendid fragrance with a unique personality. It's been about five and a half hours since I've sprayed the back of my hand, and the fragrance is still there even after washing my hands once, although I don't think it'll stay much longer than an hour at this rate, maybe an hour and a half tops. Doesn't make much business sense to keep investing heavily in something that isn't the newest, latest, and greatest, when they can cheaply recreate it/mass produce it. It opens up with strong sweet warm spicy and floral notes in the background then dry down is sweet spicy woody. I still don't know how to rate it, on one side, it's a legendary cheap fragrance older than me, amazing for clubbing in 90' with good longevity and sillage. At the end of the night he found us again in the parking lot while we were getting ready to leave and he comes up and gives me a big old hug, like the kind where he lifted me up off my feet a little bit, so my face was pressed firmly into his chest and this monstrosity he was wearing.
