the before and after chapters? work so so so well in this book. the execution of what exactly the event was that took place between the befores and afters? not so great. Neil and Olivia might have been best friends when they were 8, but now at almost 18 they were so different, yet still like magnets. These two main characters had me feelings all the feels of young, first love. The butterflies, the confusion, and the all consuming infatuation that makes you re-evaluate your life choices up to that point. Tie with a ribbon or thread and secure. Some people like to secure the two butterfly wing halves with a hot glue gun. But I find robbons work well. Alternatively you can take a pipe cleaner for this part and make butterfly antennae too! What all of the books I’ve mentioned have in common…(even though completely different topics)...is that they are each piercing with emotions . Really ‘piercing’. I am NOT okay. Paper Butterflies is very compelling, but read it when you are in a good mental place. An extra warning to those sensitive to scenes of physical and psychological abuse.
