I can get a cover for a month or three months and I know I can travel with peace of mind and get the best product for my money. And it also covers COVID-19. Distributes weight nicely, highly organized structure, comfortable & removable straps, sturdy handles For this reason, if you like the look of this bag I think getting a Fairview/Farpoint 40 would make more sense. There are also 70-liter versions, though I personally consider these too large for general travel purposes. Features of the Farpoint Trek 55 So the idea of this bag is kind of floating in the air without being specifically defined. That’s also why I’m thinking about getting another bag while I’m debating whether or not I want to travel carry-on only.

When reviewing the Farpoint Trek 55, it occurred to me that it could be part of a very cool set-up for long-term travel. The Fairview also comes with padded top and side grab handles, which made the bag nice and easy to grab from the baggage claim carousel. I also found it easy to load the bag into taxis and onto boats using the handles and used them to carry the bag for short periods of time. I’d love to see a detachable shoulder strap on the Fairview 55 and 70, but this is only available on the smaller 40 litre size. This insufficiency in comfort didn’t start ‘weighing’ on me until maybe the 3rd or 4th month of my travels so again it really depends on what type of traveller you are. If you do not plan to travel for an extended period of time and carry the bag a lot, you will be fine. Or if you often opt for taxi rides instead of walking uphill in the heat to save a few pennies, you will be fine too. Lightweight and breathable stowaway reverse spacer mesh harness and breathable, stowaway reverse spacer mesh hipbelt But I think the best fit for this bag is actually round-the-world or gap-year travelers who will travel mostly overland. By the way, the Trek version of the Farpoint does not have an S/M or M/L version, since it can be adjusted to any height. No, there is just one size. It used to have a S/M and a M/L version but no longer. There is now only one size: O/S.

When product pictures of the new Farpoint got released, I saw many comments on forums comparing it to the Osprey Porter. They do look a bit similar in pictures, but the Farpoint is absolutely NOT as structured or as stiff as the Porter.

The other common question I get is if the 40L carry-on size is big enough for certain trips. I think traveling minimally is great, but there are some trips where you might need a bit of extra space. If you are on the fence about how much space you need, then the Farpoint Trek 55 is a really nice step up from carry-on. I’m currently using the Osprey Farpoint, the male version of the Fairview 55, and I share your sentiments about its durability. My Farpoint has been my trusty companion for years, and it’s held up incredibly well, even with daily use for my work commute. The travel insurance I use is Heymondo , and their plan suits me perfectly. They have clear policies with no deductibles, the price is excellent for what they offer and the price doesn’t go up when you are over 30 years old. They have a dedicated, easy-to-use app and free assistance calls. The Osprey Fairview 55 is perfectly fine and comfortable when walking from the train station to the hostel, waiting for a cab, or performing any regular travel commuting that does not require you to walk with this bag for extended periods of time. Laptop/Tablet Sleeve – padded internal compartment which can alternatively be used to house a water bladder

The Trek opens from the side, like a suitcase. The items in the center are held together by compression straps, keeping everything else in place too. If I were going on a big round-the-world trip or gap year today — one that would take me through multiple climates — I would likely go for this set-up instead of just a single carry-on. Conclusion Technically, this bag is a bit too big to be carried on, but some travellers claim that you could probably be able to get away with it. I think if Osprey took away those 2 litres and make this bag truly a carry-on size without the day bag attached, it would make so much more sense. In the end, you only gain 2 to 5 litres (depending on if it’s a female or male version) for the price of possibly not being able to carry it on. Moovit is also an excellent and very underrated travel and journey-planning app. It works great in many countries and will show you all possible routes by public transport, including the timetables. In the main compartment, there’s a mesh seperator which helps you keep clean and dirty kit apart, along with an ID card holder and key clip to keep your valuables safe and easy to access. I booked most of my tours via either Get Your Guide or Viator. You can also book locally, but I advise you to ask around and follow the local recommendations. Load-lifting 4 mm LightWire peripheral frame effectively transfers the load from harness to hipbelt But if you are going on a longer and more adventurous trip, I think the Farpoint Trek 55 will work really well.
