We like the adjustable temperature and timer which allows you to choose a setting that works best for you between 35C to 48C, whilst the massage features and jets work to give your feet a good pampering.

Ideally, a foot massager will have a wide range of adjustable settings so you can find the intensity you need on a given day. What’s just right for one person may be way too powerful for another, so look for massagers that feature multiple intensity settings. If you’re considering a foot massager that doesn’t offer a lot of strength adjustability, see if it has a return policy so you can try it out at home; if it turns out to be too gentle or too harsh for you, you’ll be grateful you can exchange it for something that meets your needs. Included with the unit are a manual massager, brush and pumice stone to complete your pedicure. Unlike many foot spas, the FB50 can also be used without water for a dry massage, and it’s surprisingly quiet in operation. Overall, this is an excellent unit that delivers as close to the full spa experience as you can get. We thoroughly test all the foot massagers that we review, either at home or during a live product demonstration, following the directions on the box. Where applicable, we test the different heat, vibration and massage settings. That said, there are plenty of foot massagers on the market that can relieve the symptoms of many common ailments like plantar fasciitis, foot fatigue, neuropathy, and arthritis. It’s just important to consider what type of relief you need and whether a specific massager can safely provide it for you. These types of massagers work better for people with tired, achy feet than people with chronic pain conditions since they are more like foot baths with a massaging element than dedicated foot massagers. In other words, if you need targeted therapeutic massage, opt for a traditional foot massager and not a foot spa but if you need to soothe your feet after a long day at work, a foot spa with a little extra massaging action will probably give you what you need.Firstly, ask yourself why you are buying a foot spa. If the answer is because your feet are sore, or perhaps you want to improve your blood circulation, then ensuring you find a foot spa that specifically has functions to soothe and massage your feet a certain way is key. For example, you may opt for a foot spa with warm heat settings, foot rollers, vibration control and so forth. If your main goal with your foot spa is to just relax, you may not require a spa appliance with more advanced settings and functions. Settings We found the water stayed warm and the settings – for massage only, heat only, heat and massage, and heat and bubbles – mean you can play about until you find the most comforting option to suit your needs. While it claims to fit up to size 13 feet, bear in mind that this probably won’t leave enough space to make the most of the rollers. Overall experience: Did we like using it? Would we recommend it to our friends and family members? We also thought about what type of person might benefit most from each one (i.e. runners versus people with arthritis) and whether the cost of the product seemed appropriate for the results it could provide. Ease of use: Look for waterproof controls, which can ideally be operated via toe-touch or remote control. This will stop you having to bend down and ruin your relaxation.

The vibration option worked well but was less appealing to us than the traditional rolling massage feature. On the foot spa side of things, this massager offers a nice, deep tub that can accommodate all foot sizes, but it doesn’t take up much space. We also noted that this massager was a breeze to set up and use, with intuitive controls and smart storage. We felt relaxed and pampered by the time we were done with this massager, and we liked how it combines a traditional foot massage with a soaking spa element. Size: Make sure your foot spa can accommodate the size of your feet – some models are surprisingly small. Also consider the height, since some people only like their feet covered, while others prefer their ankles also immersed in water. While foot massagers can’t cure arthritis, they can act as a comfort device and alleviate some of your symptoms, says Dr. Feldman, who notes that many of them can decrease the inflammation associated with arthritis. If you spend the majority of your day on your feet, then you know there is nothing better than a soak and a rub to relieve that tension and aching sensation from your feet. The Renpho Foot Spa Bath Massager does this effortlessly from the comfort of your sofa. Its futuristic design may be off putting to some though, and do bear in mind that it's one of the bulkier models on the market so you will need the space to store it. Pros

But Dr. Feldman says that he does occasionally recommend foot massagers to his patients, because they can offer several different benefits: helping with blood flow, relieving muscle tension and relaxing soft tissue, decreasing chronic pain, decreasing emotional stress, and assisting with anxiety. Do foot massagers actually work? If you’d like to combine your foot massage with a soothing foot soak, see our list of the best foot spas. When should I not use a home foot massager? Motorised rollers make a big difference in improving the experience of a foot spa which non-motorised rollers struggle to replicate and our testers loved them. However, they may not be for everyone and reviewers elsewhere find them uncomfortable. More features – especially features such as rollers or automatic temperature sensing – will tend to mean a more fully relaxing experience, but also a more expensive unit. If you primarily want a foot spa in which to soak your feet prior to giving yourself a pedicure, a more basic unit with fewer features may be perfect for your needs. However, if you’re serious about footcare, then you may want to invest in a more sophisticated model.

If your focus is more on the massage element than soaking your feet, it’s a great choice though. We love that the foot cover is made from high-quality PU material and can be easily removed and washed in the machine too. Pros Just when you think it’s all covered, the spa also has four lighting settings, plus, a massage only option, as well as heat only option or a combination of both, and full control of temperature. What more could you want? Pros And if you do so happen to doze off during your spa experience, the auto-off timer will turn the foot spa off for you. This foot spa also features an accunode basin and heel pad, which will feel amazing whilst the warm water emerges your feet for total relaxation. A waterproof control and a splash guard takes away the stress of pampering at home, whilst the removable rolling massagers cater to the most tired and sore feet. Unlike other spas, however, there’s only one setting and you can’t choose between temperatures, but for the bargain price we think it has great functionality. If you are willing to spend a bit more for a luxurious foot spa, this one from Ivation has all of the features guaranteed to impress. You can control the exact temperature of your water with the easy-to-understand LED display, turn on the bubbles for an added luxurious feel, or set a timer for your foot spa beforehand.
