Since Unite began the industrial action dispute there has been a surge of union membership at Shelter with over 100 new members joining the union. Unite has emerged from the dispute far stronger at Shelter and it is determined to ensure that members will continue to receive fair pay awards in the future.Members of Unite, employed by housing charity Shelter, are celebrating victory after agreeing a vastly improved pay offer.

She has a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Language from the University of Manchester, an MA in English Literature and Language Before 1525 from King’s College, London, and a PhD in Old English Poetry from University of Cambridge.He studied for a BA in English and Russian, and then completed a Master's degree and a PhD on literary translation, concentrating on ideological aspects of translation: how the translator 'gets in the way' of the text he or she is translating. Hopefully the improved pay offer will result in improved industrial relations at Shelter and we can build on this pay increase to end the low pay culture currently experienced by the charity’s staff. The union said it has recently represented Samaritans staff who had been bullied by former members of its management team. This is further proof of how Unite’s unflinching focus on jobs, pay and conditions is delivering substantial financial benefits for its members.
