A Love Letter to Whiskey's story is completely it's own, but the emotions it drew out of me were so similar to Thoughtless. i’m also so thankful i read this at a time where ‘love, whiskey’ existed because it made ALLTW so much more perfect.

I took away half a star for the lone reason that the story got repetitive after the millionth break up. I was ecstatic to see Kandi was coming out with a Fifth Anniversary Edition of 'A Love Letter to Whiskey'. And that part literally shattered my heart because he deserved that happiness and he wanted it with her.Although he still seemed to "replace" B a little to easily for my comfort, I have to say that she definitely contributed to some of the disconnect. although i hate the cheating trope, this is one of those situations where the writing worked perfectly imo because of the emotions it brought out in me. If you want a book that gives you the feels, that will break you a bit and maybe put you back together (although it's pretty fresh I'm not sure I am totally put back together completely), this book is it. not only is it one of my least favorite tropes, but i feel like it could have been prevented if only they (mainly B) had given in sooner so that part frustrated me. I don’t believe in normalizing betrayal, cheating on a devoted and honest partner, or normalizing lying to those that give their love to you.In fact, the author should pay me a few therapy sessions to bring me back to my placid normal state of mind and put my heart at peace again. The anticipation of what was to roll out in this book was almost painful, but in the best way possible. From beginning to end I have been launched into one of the fiercest, intense, passionate reading roller coaster rides of my life, climbing the beautiful high, before pummelling into devastation and despair, flying through breathtaking twist and turns, mind numbing speeds and jolting bumps.

She literally runs into him and from the moment she lays her eyes on him, she knows that he’s different. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press. It will make you pull your hair out with frustration, you'd want to bitch slap both of them, you'd cry for them, root for them too. This is a story about two people who fought and sacrificed a little bit of themselves to get a piece of happiness that they found when they were together.

Yes it's gritty, raw, intense and at times all you may want to do is scream but it's also REAL, BEAUTIFUL, BREATHTAKING. This was, hands down, one of THE most frustrating and exhausting books I've read this year if not ever. Not the story itself (ain't nothing easy about the story) but the writing style was so easy, so relatable. He was still inside me and the intensity was too much to think, but I forced my way through the haze.

THEY SAY TIMING IS EVERYTHING, and I was beginning to learn that timing was everything but kind to Jamie and me. I loved and hated the characters in equal measure but honestly that only proves further how engaging and well plotted this book actually is.
