The Turf Tavern is not an Oxford Harry Potter filming location but was a location where the actors and crew would visit for a drink or dinner after filming. NOTE: There is also a chest in this same room in an alcove to the left that seems inaccessible; you can in fact reach it by walking near the flat jutting out section on the initial platform in that room. A bridge will rise as you walk that will lead you to the chest. The last name Pince seems to be in reference to the French word, which means "to pinch". The style of folding eyeglass, pince-nez, literally means "to pinch the nose". She was later handed a manuscript by the famous Catullus Spangle by the newcomer, which presumably found its allotted place in the library thereafter, and she would sometimes recommend them certain reading material, including material written by former Hogwarts professors that helped them improve their connection to Hogwarts and a dusty tome that provided an alternate incantation for one of the investigator's spells, helping them do more damage with it in combat. The Divinity School was one of my favourite Oxford Harry Potter locations as the elaborate ceiling will take your breath away. Not only do the Hogwarts Castles at these parks house an awesome ride within (truly, one of the best I’ve ever experienced!), the waiting area is built to look like the interior of iconic Hogwarts sets. But, it’s still well worth seeing a part of the Hogwarts Library with your own eyes!

A while later, Madam Pince overlooked the students at Study Hall and was seen talking to a female student. [28] It is unknown if this was a regular event that she chaperoned, or if it was a one-time event. Desk: Madam Pince owned a desk reserved for herself in the Hogwarts Library, where she did her administrative work. At the start of the 1989–1990 school year, Jacob returned to Hogwarts to search the library for books, creating quite a mess in the process. When Jacob's sibling asked Pince if she had seen Jacob in the library, she said she was surprised to see rummage through the shelves haphazardly, as he had always been a model patron in the library who respected books. They then helped Pince clean up the scattered books. [12] It’s also the Hospital Wing during Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when many of the students are petrified including Hermione Granger. And again, it appears during the Prisoner of Azkaban when Harry wakes up after defeating the Dementors.

Founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, it is often known as Aedes Christi or ‘The House’. Its home to Christ Church Cathedral and was the 13th college to be built in Oxford. The answer is Oxford, and the good news is you can easily visit it! For Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, they shot on location in Duke Humfrey’s Library in the Oxford Bodleian Libraries. Next, I probably most enjoy Quidditch Through the Ages. Given that I’m not a sports fan, you would think this would be tedious to me — but, believe it or not, this book is actually funny. Wizards have a propensity for setting things on fire during games. That’s all I’m going to say. You look lovely tonight, Irma. Not that you don't always look lovely." — Argus Filch talking to Madam Pince at the Valentine's Day Ball [src] It's unknown when Albus Dumbledore removed all the books containing information on Horcruxes from the library but it was banned by Tom's time at the school and Dumbledore was very strict about it. [36] The books were taken and put in Dumbledore's office prior to June 1997 until Hermione Granger took them during her search for Horcruxes. [8] The Hogwarts Monthly Magazine September 2023 Issue contained breaking news from in and around Hogwarts, little snippets of information, and a riddle-answering challenge which earned you five Knuts, as well as a special mention of your name and a free advertising opportunity in the Hogwarts Monthly Magazine, for the correct answer.
