Description

Yamaha is a manufacturer known for producing guitars that are great values, and this goes for guitars in any price range. While Yamaha's high-end guitars have been praised for their incredible sound and build quality, the company's more affordable models also have a lot to offer, especially when compared to inexpensive guitars from other manufacturers. Compact and made for the road, this reduced scale guitar from Yamaha is the perfect travel companion! Small Scale, Big Sound The Yamaha FG series offers consistently popular and top-value mid-level acoustic guitars. Overview Still, it features the same shape and construction features, only on a lesser scale. It makes it ideal for kids, young players, and players with small hands. Construction For hardware, the JR1 has fairly basic components to help keep the consumer’s cost down. However, what is present is more than adequate, featuring:

I was worried that going to a steel string accoustic guitar would be painful on the tips of my fretting fingers since I have nerve damage in my fingers--one of the reasons I started off on the Yamaha 3/4 size classical with nylon strings (which is a great nylon string guitar for beginners), but I don't realize any difficulty or pain with this steel string guitar. I have calluses by now, but even so, for one just starting out on a steel string, I don't think it's any more painful than starting out on nylon strings. The Telecaster is one of the most iconic guitars ever created, particularly because it was the first solidbody production guitar. It has played an important role in some of the most highly-regarded recorded music that exists today.

If you’re a typical American consumer, you probably associate Yamaha with electronics and motorsports, among other things. However, the company actually built its reputation by building organs and, today, is the world’s top piano manufacturer. When you’re shopping for budget guitars suitable for 11-year-olds, you need to be wary of the market. There are more guitars of worthless quality than there are of guitars of practical playability. As an affordable guitar, we expect to find cheap hardware on the FG JR1. It’s the part where manufacturers save the most money. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Rosewood bridge--Many less-expensive guitars have bridges made of cheaper woods, but the genuine rosewood on the Yamaha JR1 and JR2 makes them especially beautiful smaller guitars. The Bridge does help somewhat in creating responsive tone, and having a quality tonewood like rosewood as a bridge makes a significant difference, especially in a laminated soundboard. As the FG JR1 is a compact version of the FG series guitars, they carry a compact proprietary bracing pattern. JR is a 540mm scale length compact acoustic guitar modeled after our long selling FG series. This compact guitar delivers authentic acoustic sound anytime and anywhere you want. In this section, the Yamaha JR2 is the winner--while we love the antiqued look of the JR1, we think that the JR2 acoustic guitar wins this round because buyers can choose a finish. Accessories Soundboard -- Both guitars have laminated spruce soundboard. While laminated spruce won't sound as full and nuanced as solid spruce, it still retains some of its tonal properties. Plus, laminated woods tend to not react much to changes in temperature and humidity, making them good for travel. Sure, make no mistake about it, the Affinity Series Telecaster isn’t built like a premium Fender. But, it uses the same designs with affordable components to keep the barrier to entry low for anyone to access.

While the JR1 isn’t an overly-embellished guitar, it provides everything someone needs to learn to play. This product can be delivered to you for free. Just add it to the basket to see the full range of services you can choose from. If you’re searching for a small acoustic guitar for your kids, you can’t go wrong with the JR1. It hits all of the right boxes, from being affordable to delivering plenty of clarity.Yamaha designed the FG Junior 1 with the same shape as the original Yamaha’s folk guitar. That ensures it hits a balance between travel guitar and children’s model. That said, the Yamaha JR1 is not a toy; it’s just a smaller version of one of the best acoustic series in the market. With the combination as is, this puppy has a natural finish, which nicely rounds off the functional design. However, other models of the series will feature different finishes and different combinations of materials, so you can have a choice. I must add the guitar features a natural finish to round its simple design. Other guitars of the series feature a hand-sprayed ultra-thin gloss finish. Size The flat-radius fretboard is really comfortable to play thanks to the shorter scale length. Its Rosewood construction is nice and smooth, combining with the nylon strings well to deliver easy playability.

On the hardware front, the GRGM21 isn’t anything special to write home about. However, at this price, you shouldn’t expect everything to be of the most premium quality. The JR2 acoustic and the JR1 also are very similar when it comes to their appointments. As with the previous section, there's no real winner here, as both guitars have the same appointments. Here's what you get with either: You get used to it after a while, but playing fingerstyle on the JR2 initially feels about as roomy as trying to breakdance in a broom cupboard. This guitar suits breezy, easy strummed chords far better, which fits its intended purpose. The Yamaha JR1 is a small dreadnought guitar with no cutaway. A dreadnought guitar features a larger body with a louder projection. However, it’s a ¾ dreadnought FG guitar, so it’s both smaller and quieter. The FG JR1 is an acoustic guitar which means that it has steel strings, as opposed to the nylon string of a classical style. Some people prefer children to start on nylon stringed models because they are a little bit more comfortable for a kid’s fingers. Kids can play steel string; they will need to play for a few minutes each day so they can build up calluses and then they will be fine. So if you have a child who is starting lessons and you need an easy to play, real instrument that sounds great and doesn’t cost a fortune, you should try out the Yamaha FG JR1. Appearance La guitare est vraiment super mon fils de 6 ans l a adoré ! J avais peur qu’elle soit trop grande car il n’est pas très grand mais pas du tout ! If you are buying for a young child and it’s their first guitar you should be aware that the FG JR1 has steel strings which can sometimes be a bit hard for kids who are learning to play. If you are not used to steel strings it can be a little bit painful, so kids will just need to play for a short period each day until they built up some callouses on their fingers. It’s not a huge deal, but something to be aware of. If that is something you are worried about, you can also look into nylon stringed (classical guitars) that can be somewhat easier on kids fingers Overall
