Some medicines must not be taken at the same time as Gaviscon. This is because the medicines can affect how the other medicine works. Mix Gaviscon powder (for babies and children under 2) with cool, boiled water or formula milk. Potassium: This medicine contains 1mmol (39.06 mg) potassium per 5 ml. To be taken into consideration by patients with reduced kidney function or patients on a controlled potassium diet. If you often have heartburn or indigestion, take Gaviscon regularly after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times a day, whether or not you have symptoms.

Sodium Alginate

You'll usually take Gaviscon tablets and liquid up to 4 times a day. It's best to take it after meals and at bedtime. This is usually when the pain and discomfort is at its worst. 7. Cautions with other medicines

This product is considered high in sodium. This should be particularly taken into account for those on a low salt diet (e.g. in some cases of congestive heart failure and renal impairment). It's safe to take paracetamol at the same time as Gaviscon. But do not take other painkillers, like ibuprofen or aspirin, with Gaviscon without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first. Sodium: This medicinal product contains 57.85 mg sodium per 5 ml, equivalent to 2.9 % of the WHO recommended maximum daily intake for sodium. Methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate: Contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216): May cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).Benzyl alcohol: This medicine contains 0.525 mg benzyl alcohol in each 5 ml. Benzyl alcohol may cause allergic reactions.

Calcium: Each 10 ml contains 200 mg (2 mmol) of calcium carbonate. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi.
