UPDATE: Chris, one of our readers, pointed out in a comment that Braun outsourced the production of the original shaving heads for the Series 9 (90s, 90b) to a company that went out of business in the meantime. As a result, there was a long period of time when Braun couldn’t find a supplier for the production of the cassettes, hence the shortage. They eventually found a new manufacturer for the updated 92s/92b shaving heads used on the 92xx and 93xx models. With the first 92xx update, Braun only mentioned the Titanium Nitride coated trimmer in the press release. This very user-friendly device automatically charges, cleans, lubricates, and dries the device with a single touch of the small start button. And this is a bit of a bummer since it takes away some of that hassle-free maintenance promised by the station.

In fact, there’s also a recently launched Arc 6 with SIX blades, which is in practice a more comfortable Arc 5 with pretty much the same performance. The dry-only variations from the original Series 9 lineup like the 9090cc or 9040s can be operated while charging, but those are getting really difficult to find.

Im also wondering if holding a hot wet towel over my face pre shave , and using the wet shave option will improve my shave quality and or shave experience ? It really helps with manual blades (a hot shower while shaving also helps immensely with a manual blade , will it also help alot with this braun?)
