Nikon D50 Specs - Digital Photography Review Nikon D50 Specs - Digital Photography Review

Camera selects focus area containing subject closest to camera; this subject stands out clearly while background details are softened, lending composition sense of depth. So much information from so many people, what an incredible waste of knowledge, effort and execution it would be if the site and data goes offline.

The Program AE on the D50 is flexible, which means that you can select one of a variety of equal exposures by turning the main command dial. Like its newer, higher-end sibling (the D80), the D50 uses Secure Digital instead of CompactFlash cards found on previous Nikon digital SLRs. The one on the body takes precedence so if it's set to manual focus but the lens is set to autofocus, you have to focus manually. When you half-press the shutter button, the viewfinder shows how many shots you can take in a series: although the camera said nine, at times I could squeeze off a burst of ten - taking about five seconds - before it needed to take a breath. Autofocus performance with the 18-55mm zoom is entirely satisfactory: neither the fastest nor the slowest in this class, but working well into low light levels.

This level of image would have done a professional camera proud a few years ago and is superb performance for any camera now. Command dial alone selects shutter speed, hold the exposure compensation button and turn the dial to select aperture. We've selected a group of cameras that are easy to keep with you, and that can adapt to take photos wherever and whenever something memorable happens.Lack of a focus-motor in the camera eliminated the ability to autofocus with late film-era Nikkor AF and AF-D lenses, though these lenses work well on the D50.

Nikon D50 Overview - Digital Photography Review Nikon D50 Overview - Digital Photography Review

Nikonians are known as great sources of photographic info to many of their friends, so this article should help with questions they are likely to be asked. For photographers who need advanced photo editing options, Pixelmator Pro for macOS offers layer-based editing, machine learning-powered adjustment and selection tools, and features such as Denoise and Super Resolution. Indications in the viewfinder are surprisingly complete too, from focus confirmation to warnings of no memory card inserted and preset white balance. A switch to the left of the lens mount selects autofocus or manual focus: where a lens carries its own switch one or the other switch is redundant.

The menu items are large and clearly legible, but zooming into the review picture needs careful sequencing between two buttons. When you pick it up, it's heavier than you'd expect, thus helping to give it a reassuringly solid chubbiness.
