The sport aspect is also a lot less than other sport romances i have read and it was really refreshing.is difficult to like sometimes but she’s always so unashamedly herself no matter the consequences which was prime entertainment for me lol. Things get complicated when she encounters Mary ( Marjorie Reynolds), one of Johnny's colleagues, whom she assumes is in love with him.

these characters were unapologetically themselves, flawed + so real. the story explored their struggles within themselves + their families, some of the best character development from the main characters but also some of the side characters.Abigail Trent Budell ( Ethel Barrymore), a wealthy resident of Philadelphia and patron of the arts, supports her soprano granddaughter Prudence Budell ( Kathryn Grayson), just returning from Europe after five years of vocal training. Prudence's grandmother sponsors an opera company run by the famous maestro Jose Iturbi ( himself) to give her chance to lead an opera. They hire the also famous tenor Guido Russino Betelli ( Thomas Gomez), but Prudence does not feel comfortable with him on the stage. I love the author’s writing and how she brought out the good and the ugly in all the characters. And the fact that this is a debut is amazing! I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future. Greta and Otis start a (kinda secret but not really) friends-with-benefits relationship after having an electric one night stand. AND I MEAN ELECTRIC. Their chemistry is off the charts in and out of the bedroom. I highly recommend this book if you love the vibes of Icebreaker and the Playing for Keeps series. It’s emotional, funny, and hot.

the best way to explain the feeling this book gave me is that it scratched an itch in my brain. i loved everything about this book from the characters, the plot, the writing, and my absolute favorite: the formatting LOVED the FMC, Greta was just my kind of girl, scared of commitment, scared of feelings, guarded, doing her best to come off as unfeeling and tough, but being all messy inside and making messy decisions too tropes: college football romance. coach’s daughter. friends with benefits. reverse grumpy x sunshine. (spice level HIGH)Two people really grappling with a lot of pain and residual trauma from their lives find each other and through their relationship are forced to deal with and come to terms with their choices.
