Red Worm Liquid Bait Fish Additive,100ml Concentrated Red Worm Liquid

Wormeries are usually emptied when they are full; this takes about 8 to 12 months. You must separate the worms before using the compost. An established wormery can be left without the addition of food for up to four weeks. However, the liquid may accumulate which needs to be drained off to avoid waterlogging.

Keep an eye on the mix of kitchen waste that you add to the composter. Composting worms are fairly voracious and can eat up to their own body weight a day, but if you add too much then the worms will not be able to keep up. On the other hand, the worms will be fine for a couple of weeks without food, so you can go away on holiday and not worry about them. Remember: Fruit and vegetable scraps that contain seeds can be included but the seeds may germinate in the wormery. What to avoid:

When roughly handled, a redworm exudes a pungent liquid, thus the specific name fetida meaning " foul-smelling". This is presumably an antipredator adaptation. The worm compost can be used as a general soil conditioner or as a constituent of homemade growing media. It is generally rich in nitrogen and potassium.
