But then later on in the story there's a more sinister side to her as she tries to pin Marina's murder on Azuma, wanted to "check inside people's bellies" for her dog (I don't know what checking inside people's bellies means, but it CANNOT be good), started hurting Takopi and even in another timeline stole Azuma from Marina. The manga has a lot of moments like that and it also uses its distrubing and shocking events to further illustrate what a fucked up situation each of these characters are trapped in. As I said before, this isn’t an easy-to-digest stomach, and I’d say it isn’t for the faint of heart. But his misguided attempts to help her by using his advanced technology to turn back time only result in mayhem and death. And Azuma's speech about people having good and bad points and him having fun and being friends with Shizuka and Takopi was phenomenal.His need to be recognized by his mother and being overshadowed by his older brother was played to the utmost extreme.

The sacrifice which Takopi made in the final chapter didn't hit me all that hard and largely just felt like the author was trying to make things more melodramatic and intense for the ending.Plus it didn't make much sense that the people would then have, like, residual memories of Takopi or something--which is honestly what the entire ending hinges on. I did find some things negative: there are a few things that I think should have gotten more of a focus, and there’s a certain event that happens purely off-screen — while I’m fine with it being off-screen, the fact that it seemingly bore no consequences makes it feel inconsequential.

Note that Shounen Jump+ isn’t really aimed at the same bracket as the “normal” Shounen Jump, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this to kids.And what must the pink alien octopus with a heart of gold sacrifice to truly help Shizuka and her friends…?

Takopi has seemingly useless gadgets like a ribbon that can stretch infinitely or a pen that cries like a cat, as well as rings that allow you to fly, cameras, and tools that allow Takopi to change its shape — but Shizuka just isn’t interested in any of that, as they “won’t be able to change anything”.

The story starts with the titular Takopi (actual name nuu-anu-kf) meeting Shizuka who proceeds to name it due to resembling an octopus ( tako in Japanese) and frequently saying “pi”. It has an amazing premise that could catch the eye of anyone looking anyone browsing, great plot twists, and a very concise story. Indeed, it’s clear from the start that Shizuka is the target of bullying with her only source of happiness being Chappy — her dog and loyal companion, given to her by her dad because he disappeared from her life — while her mom works as an escort and not seen at home during the day. Takopi’s Original Sin (Takopii no Genzai) is Tanzai 5‘s first serialized work, with them having previously worked on 3 One-Shots, one of them self-published, and the other two by Shounen Jump+. This manga focuses on the ways that humans can be petty and spiteful and cruel, and how parents can be neglectful and abusive to their children.
