Deep functionality still to be explored, but the first two weeks have been lots of fun and my playing feels tighter already.

Boss has earned itself an impressive reputation in the field (including the most famous looper on the planet, thanks to Ed Sheeran using the RC-30 for years). The RC-5 pitches itself in a very inviting position: compact like the RC-1 and RC-3, but with upgrades. It’s the traditional winning Boss pedal chassis dimensions with that reassuringly sized area for stomping on and activating key controls. If you’re new to looping in general, it’s important to get the beat right. Count to yourself, practice your rhythm for a while, and make sure to tap the footswitch on the beat, or else your loop might sound a bit off. This is an important tip, so I’ll share it with you. As is the custom, you can connect the Loop Station via the USB-B port to a PC or Mac to save or record loops. Otherwise, the RC-5 has only one other port, to which you can connect an unfortunately not included power supply. If you’re in the process of crafting a tone, putting a looper at the very beginning of your chain (directly connected to your guitar) is a great way to modify the rest of your pedalboard while having a constant reference melody/riff. 2) How to Power the Loop StationFor a better understanding of music theory, Punkademic’s Comprehensive Complete is what I always recommend via the All-Access Pass. Actually understanding basic rudiments and harmony will help your creativity big-time. 9) How To Store Many Loops and Samples on the RC-5 Next to the display of the RC-5, there is a large knob to change the settings and adjust the volume of the loop. Below that, there are four small, illuminated buttons that you can use to switch the integrated drum machine on or off and manage the memory. As a matter of fact, I’m still playing around with simple loops at the moment. Overdubs are something I’m not super confident with, even though I use this thing all of the time. But it isn’t just “here’s a small looper for people who do slightly more than just annoy their families with endless looping” (let’s admit it, we’re all guilty of that from time to time). Now you could viably use the looper in a live situation as well. It might take a while to get used to performing some operations, but with a little practice it becomes intuitive. You can also always add an external footswitch later for easier control of the pedals features. Welcome to our global family. The BOSS Worldwide Social Network keeps you connected to the latest products, exciting events, and much more.

The instruction manual takes it even further. It says that you have to press once on the last beat of the measure, and then once on the first beat of the following measure. I never had any issues without knowing that, but now you know. How to Play the Recording in the Boss Loop Station You can rotate it and enter all the different menus for adjusting your rhythm, which includes ‘Reverb’, ‘Pattern’, ‘Variation’, ‘Kit’, and a few more like ‘Variation Change’, ‘Beat’, and ‘Start’. Most other changes to the RC-3 are hidden underneath the case of the RC-5: While you have to work with a 16-bit signal processing in the RC-3, the RC-5 offers you contemporary and high-quality 32-bit audio. This practically means that even with numerous layers of overdubs, the sound is clear and there is no sign of muddy noises. With 99 slots the memory for phrases remained the same, but with its impressive recording time of 13 hours the RC-5 beats its predecessor by 10 full hours. TRS/MIDI connecting cable: BMIDI-5-35, BMIDI-1-35, BMIDI-2-35, BCC-1-3535, BCC-2-3535 Size and Weight Width 73 mmOnce you’ve made the connections properly and powered up the pedal, creating a simple loop is pretty easy once you’ve figured out the basics of using it. How to Make A Simple Loop with the Boss Loop Station With the fourth small (memory) button you can modify the settings for a recorded loop, among other things. The red flashing display means it’s recording How to Stop Recording A Loop With the Boss Loop Station How the battery goes in your Loop Station. It’s surprising how pedal manufacturers haven’t figured out a better way to connect their batteries yet. With 57 preset rhythms and seven different drum kits, the RC-5 is ready to elevate loop and practice sessions with inspiring grooves for any style. For each rhythm, A/B variations can be selected from the panel or controlled via MIDI while performing. The RC-5’s looper engine also includes a cool reverse function that’s great for infusing your music with fresh sonic colours. Capture, Practice &Perform
