Description

Sage have designed this juicer to extract maximum goodness with minimum effort and barely any heat transfer onto food – less than 1%, thanks to Cold Spin Technology, which helps preserve vitamins and nutrients during processing. Masticating juicers are also called slow juicers or cold press juicers, and work by ‘chewing’ fruit and vegetables before crushing or squeezing out the juice at a gentle rate. This provides a high yield and maximum nutritional content plus the juice may have a longer shelf life. Many ‘slow’ juicers have almost caught up with centrifugal juicers in terms of speed and they’ll also be quieter while in use. On board you’ll find two speeds that are easy to control via the dial that’s positioned neatly on the front of the machine. It’s easy to switch from low to high to suit hard and softer ingredients. In our juice test we found the powerful centrifugal design worked well with carrots and apples, rather than on leafier, softer greens such as kale and spinach. Using the decibel meter app we measured noise levels at 79db on the low setting, up to 82 on the high setting, which makes it one of the quieter designs we’ve tested. There are probably three things that can stop juicing from becoming a habit – extensive food prep, more hassle than juice and cleaning up afterwards. Fortunately, these are all points that the Philips Viva Cold Press Masticating Slow Juicer can help with. All detachable parts are dishwasher safe, and the machine is designed to be cleaned in 90 seconds for repeat usage. The feeding chute is wide enough to fit a whole apple, although we found it was still better to cut up large apples as the 70mm feeding chute is not wide enough for everything. Easily juice and instantly seal in an XL 2 litre jug, the 2-litre jug can provide juice for the whole family or store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. A handy juice nozzle is also provided for single servings if you aren’t interested in sharing! To collect every drop of juice, after juicing, remove the blades and tilt the filter bowl to pourout any excess juice inside the bowl into the juice jug.

A 900W motor and two speeds help it adapt to hard and soft fruit, while a 1.25-litre lidded jug with a foam separator allows you to store juice. The machine is especially noisy in operation. In testing, it produced a glass of juice in around 15 seconds, a good yield that was only slightly less than more expensive machines. We have also included a citrus juicer in our guide to the best juicers. A citrus juicer is only suitable for those who want fresh-squeezed oranges, grapefruit, and lemons, but they have a spinning reamer that will take all of the hard work out of making fresh juice. Clean up was straightforward too – the machine comes with a brush accessory that is useful for scraping off any large, stubborn pieces of pulp from the drum after use. Dishwasher-safe parts make it easy to clean too.

The hopper has been designed to juice larger fruits and vegetables with ease. The extra large feed chute now measures 88mm, which will allow you to juice small fruits and vegetables whole and larger produce will only need to be cut in half. With a larger than usual 88mm / 3.5inch feed chute which can accommodate whole fruits and vegetables and can extract 2L of nutrient rich juice up to 5 times faster than a cold press machine. The noise reduction technology means that noise output is reduced by up to 40% when using the quiet setting.

The Beko works with a slow 60rpm turning speed that gently crushed the ingredients to retain maximum nutrients. Soft vegetables such as spinach and kale did well on this model, as did fruits such as blueberries and strawberries. It also comes with a second sorbet attachment that is designed for use with frozen fruits.Bolt on the separate citrus module and it’ll also function as a reamer so you can juice limes, lemons and oranges without peeling. The secret to its success is in the clever design. Where it differs from many slow juicers is that it has an 82mm feed chute equipped with a flip gate rather than a fin to protect your fingers. It’s key to choose a machine that’s easy to use and maintain. Time spent assembling and cleaning can become a reason not to juice regularly. Look for those that can be put together easily and have a non-drip spout. Ideally, they should have dishwasher-safe parts or dedicated brushes for clearing fibres and residue from mesh filters. Centrifugal juicersare high-speed machines that extract by shredding the fruit or vegetables with spinning blades, before straining it against metal mesh to separate seeds and pith from juice. As well as being speedy, centrifugal juicers are well suited to handling hard fruit and vegetables, such as ginger, apples and carrots. They’re also good for cutting down on food prep time as many have large feed chutes that can accommodate whole apples and veggies. High-quality materials are used throughout this machine including the stainless steel juicing basket, titanium reinforced cutting disk and Italian micro mesh filter. The juicing components are dishwasher safe, which will save you even more time in the cleanup process. Technical Specifications

A machine that suits your daily routine is the best way to encourage you to make juicing a habit, so it’s a good idea not to buy on price alone. Instead, consider how much value different features will add to your new juicing regime. What are the different types of juicer? Start saving up now for this gorgeous, design-led masticating juicer. In contrast to all the contemporary versions on the market, this machine combines retro curves with modern technology – but it comes with a premium price tag.The innovative elevated spout allows for the extra-large 2 litre jug with froth separator, perfect for creating enough juice for the whole family and, if you want to save your fresh juice for later, the seal and store lid means it can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you only want to make one serving of fresh juice, the additional custom-designed juicing nozzle can be placed over the spout, perfect for mess-free juicing straight into a drinking glass. There are three settings in total on the Nutri Cold XL, one of them being the quiet setting which reduces mechanical noise by 40%. Juicing Capacity There are two types of juicer, which are known as centrifugal and masticating. They use different methods to extract the juice and are sometimes referred to as fast and slow juicers. Besides its speeds, there are smart design features, such as its large pulp container and two-litre juice jug with an airtight lid, meaning that you can juice a batch and it’ll keep for up to three days in the fridge, and a flexible nozzle that allows you to juice straight into a glass. Cold Spin Technology allows juice to flow up through the stainless steel cutting disc surrounded by an Italian-made mesh filter. This ensures there is no marginal temperature increase of less than 1°C. The reason for this is because many centrifugal juicers get a reputation for killing vital antioxidants and nutrients, which is the main point of drinking juice. Noise Reduction

It might not be as essential as the best kettle or toaster but add a juicer to your worktop and you’ll find yourself using it almost as much as blendersout there. As well as creating exciting drinks to boost your breakfast, the same machine may be able to make frozen desserts, smoothies and even dairy alternatives, such as almond or rice milk. There are two main types of juicers: masticating, and centrifugal. A centrifugal juicer is often cheaper, and mimics the best blender in shredding fruits and vegetables using blades. The is then strained away from the pulp, and poured directly into your glass. A masticating juicer, also known as a cold press juicer, will slowly remove the juice from fruits by replicating a hand-juicing motion. This can be more expensive, but it will leave the fibres in your drink intact, which means they are often seen as a healthier choice. Once you’ve finished juicing, the Nutri Juicer Cold Plus easily comes apart for efficient cleaning, and the jug and pulp bin can both go in the dishwasher. We also liked the large feeding tube, which means you can add quite a few chunks of fruit and vegetables to the top of the chute in one go. While they don’t need to be tiny, you do need to make sure they are chopped to a suitable size, however. When we used it to make a green juice, the Philips juicer struggled a little with the larger vegetable pieces such as the broccoli florets, so we made sure we cut them down into manageable chunks before inserting. The pear also needed to be chopped into small pieces, but overall the Avance model did well to crush the ingredients effectively and make a good-looking juice with minimal froth.A cleaning brush is also supplied, but components are dishwasher safe for effective and thorough cleaning. The Braun juicer performed particularly well when we made a carrot, apple and ginger juice. The carrots and apples could both go in whole, which saved time and effort having to chop and prepare them. It comes with a 1.25L jug to collect juice and this has a lid that captures the foam when you go to pour it into a glass. We found that while our green juice managed to build up quite a bit of foam on top of the juice, this easily separated from the drink when we poured it into a glass using the jug. The Avance has a few quirks, however. One is a narrow feed tube, so while you might save time on cleaning up, you’ll spend some of that chopping beforehand. It’s also prone to surges when food needs a firm push through, so it may splash the worktop. The recipe book would benefit from some extra guidance amongst the ideas, too. A whole apple was juiced in under five seconds in our test, which we found impressive for a slow juicer such as this. We were also surprised with its powerful juicing screw, which got to work on fruits and vegetables without us having to manually push the fruit into the chute. It also comes with handy measurement indicators on the main juice casing that shows you how much juice you are allowing for. The centrifugal Nutri Juicer Cold XL iseasy to assemble, feels reassuringly robust, cuts down on chopping with its 88mm chute (which can accommodate whole apples) and everything can go in the dishwasher, with the exception of the pusher, or be rinsed in seconds.
