Enjoy a stroll along the Left Bank of the Seine to take in the city views before or after visiting. Jardin des TuileriesThis astonishing building, one of the largest and most impressive cathedrals on the planet, has been a vital religious centre in the north of England since the 7th century. With towering stone and immense stained-glass windows, the breathtaking structure is crammed full of artefacts reflecting 2,000 years of history, from the area’s Roman roots to the famous Viking influence on the region. Skipton Castle A five-minute walk from the southern end of the beach is the town’s historic harbor, lined with brightly colored fishermen’s cottages. It’s a busy spot filled with pubs, cafes, and fish and chip restaurants, as well as boats waiting for the 1930 town hydraulic bridge to open and let them pass, which it does, on schedule, every two hours. Nothe Fort Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Skipton is a lovely market town and the perfect place to base yourself if you intend to explore the area. Once here, a visit to Skipton Castle is a must. For 900 years, this imposing giant has been the scene of many a bloody battle and periods of aristocratic opulence. One of the country’s best preserved castles, it’s crammed full of fascinating historical artefacts and stories of its renowned inhabitants. Swinton Druid Temple Scotland is an excellent place to spot the Northern Lights. Fall and winter are the best seasons to visit, with long periods of darkness, little light pollution from nearby cities, and a high number of clear nights — ideal conditions for observing the majestic colors that light up the northern sky. While you can see the lights from anywhere in Scotland, Galloway Forest Park in the southwest, the Outer Hebrides, and northern Scotland offer the best chance of seeing the auroras.
