Vastberaden zoals ze is wil ze de baby houden. Ze ziet haar als een zusje. Haar aristocratische mama wil niets van Amy weten

Amy Snow - Historical Novel Society

I would say so, yes. Amy begins life in a very sheltered world with a relatively small cast of characters. Therefore, although she is aware from a very young age of the issues that confront Aurelia regarding her marital prospects, these difficulties have an intensely personal feel for her. As the book progresses, however, Amy meets more and more people who show her different ways of being and different ways of thinking about the world. As such, she begins to think of many things in a new light. Certainly Mrs. Riverthorpe is very outspoken about these issues. Amy’s journey also increases her awareness of how she is viewed as a young woman traveling alone and brings home to her the limited options available to a woman who wishes to be entirely respectable. This is a desire she has to abandon to some extent to be able to do what she needs to do. How do the mysterious circumstances surrounding Amy’s birth link her to the Vennaway family? Given Lady Celestina’s tragic history of miscarriages, why do she and her husband prefer to turn Amy over to an orphanage rather than rear her as their child? Relatado en primera persona por nuestra protagonista, Amy Snow, nos vamos enterando de su vida a partir de su nacimiento.

How does the epilogue of the book affect your understanding of Lady Celestina? Does it make you agree with Aurelia’s decision to conceal her child from her parents? How does the epilogue shed light on Amy?

‎Amy Snow on Apple Books

The air is so cold that the tears are flayed from my eyes, eyes I had thought to be finished with crying for all time. After the biblical floods I have shed in the last three days, I thought there could be no water left in my depleted form. Yet it seems that life, and grief, and winter go on. My toes are numb as I trudge the miles that lead me away from Aurelia’s grave and from Hatville Court, the only home, grudging as it was, that I have ever known.stars. This is my first novel by this author and I will read more. I rounded up to 4 because of the overall enjoyment factor. I liked the tone of this historical fiction story. It started off great with a baby being found in the snow and brought home to be raised as a servant girl. This girl was Amy Snow. I liked Amy and I enjoyed her journey. I absolutely loved, loved Mrs. Riverhurst. She was hilarious. There were a lot of characters in this which usually is a negative for me, but the nature of the story seemed to dictate their necessity. So this wasn't bothersome because I knew they were temporary and accepted that early on. Two terribly boring suitors appear and for half a second I thought the author might do something interesting there. Like, maybe have her not end up with either one! Or make the clearly sus lord not so sus after all? Because otherwise why so predictable? Or the goodhearted future doctor not so goodhearted? Because why make him so predictable...? No? But no. The ending is a boring, bland mess full of characters I really don't care about and tying up loose ends that would have been more interesting left untied.
