Description

I studied classical dancing as a child, but unfortunately, I have the constitution of a lamb rather than an ox. One of my knees gave out at 16. My mum was an actor and I just happened to be at a ballet school where directors scouted for young performers. I got to play one of the lead roles in a BBC1 TV series, The Story of the Treasure Seekers, and later Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, so it was quite a smooth transition from letting go of my dreams of dancing to becoming an actor. It wasn’t until I contracted Epstein- Barr virus that I found myself bedridden and wrote my first book, Lovers and Players. With a mix of Lucinda's Riley's talent for capturing the reader's imagination in yet another spellbinding tale, along with the painstaking historical research at the heart of each novel in the series, Lucinda paints another epic tale of love, loss and discovery. * My Weekly * If I was to be one of the sisters, I would probably be a mix between Ally and Tiggy. Someone did my chart once and said I’d always be torn between the two sides of my life because I was born on a full moon at an eclipse. I am quite needy domestically and want that grounding of my family. But the other half of me is creative, spiritual, and free, believing in another level to life. I laid my hot brow against the cool Perspex of the window, which was all that separated me and everyone else on the plane from asphyxiation and certain death.

You were really rude to him when he came to the apartment, my conscience reminded me. And yes, I had minded his being there, and, as usual, I hadn’t known how to hide it. Spanning continents and decades, this is a well-researched and compelling novel on an epic scale. * Sunday Express * Sometimes her writing is adequate, sometimes I just want to yell a bit at the nonsensicalness of it.Ten years after her teenage daughter went missing, a mother begins a new relationship only to discover she can't truly move on until she answers lingering questions about the past.

Heard of Krabi,” he said, his jaw working overtime to chew the sausage. “I’m meeting my mates in Bangkok. We’ve still got a couple of weeks until the full moon to decide anyway. You meeting friends out in Oz?” I understood then what loneliness really was. It felt like a gnawing inside me, yet at the same time, a great hole of emptiness. I blinked away tears—I’d never been a crier—but they kept coming, so that eventually my eyelids were forced to open with the pressure of what felt like a dam about to burst.Lucinda Kate Riley ( née Edmonds; 16 February 1965 – 11 June 2021) [1] [2] was a Northern Irish author of popular historical fiction, formerly an actress and ballet dancer. The Pearl Sister is the fourth book in the number one international bestselling Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. The prose is expressive, eloquent, and heartfelt. The characters are complex, genuine, and endearing. And the plot is a compelling, heartwarming saga filled with familial drama, introspection, love, loss, grief, determination, passion, and loyalty. * What's Better than Books, USA *

If I wasn’t a novelist I would be in the bowels of The British Library, surrounded by dusty history books. The way the subject is sometimes taught can put students off – you’re just given a lot of dates. In historical fiction, you’re not patronized but you learn through the characters. Like osmosis, it makes history interesting by turning it into a story.

I heard Ma’s comforting voice in my head and remembered her telling me that when I fell out of a tree at Atlantis and sprained my ankle. I’d bitten my bottom lip so hard in my effort not to be a crybaby that I’d drawn blood. When I first had the idea of writing a series of books based on the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades, I had no idea where it would lead me. I was very attracted to the fact that each one of the mythological sisters was, according to their legends, a unique and strong female. I wanted to celebrate the achievements of women, especially in the past, where so often their contribution to making our world the place it is today has been overshadowed by the documented achievements of men. And I wanted to celebrate the achievements of women, especially in the past, where so often, their contribution to making our world the place it is today has been overshadowed by the more frequently documented achievements of men.

The plane touched down so gently I hardly knew we were on the ground until they announced it over the PA system. I opened my eyes and felt a surge of triumph. I’d completed a long-haul flight alone and lived to tell the tale. Star would be proud of me . . . if she even cared any longer.
