Description

When YouTube ghost hunters Sam and Colby head to Kauai for an annual bro trip with two childhood buddies, they’re dying for a break from paranormal investigations—instead, they find themselves at the center of their most horrifying mystery yet. The thing was, Colby’s transition from high school graduate to YouTube ghost hunter hadn’t come easy. His parents hadn’t been happy about his move to Los Angeles with Sam. They’d told him the same stuff all concerned parents told their kids: They may not always agree, and they’d had plenty of ups and downs over the years, but these guys were brothers—end of story. No matter who came and went from their lives, through marching band, through the Vine days, through breakups, and now their ghost hunter phase, these were the guys that Sam could always count on since day 1. This trip was as much a celebration of that friendship as anything else.

The roads looked normal, as far as Sam could tell. He wondered if there just hadn’t been any good cars left and the rental car lady didn’t want to admit it. Two hours later, they arrived in the southern town of Koloa, turning into a side street under light rain. Heading down the narrow trail, they finally arrived at a two-story cottage nestled deep in the trees. Alex betraying the boys? So interesting! This was one of the few things that made sense in terms of them being drugged. But then when he was betrayed when Pauahi (who’s name was misspelled a few different times in the book) escaped? Ugh, amazing. We love instant karma like that.

Am I Sam Or Colby Quiz

Just how meta the book was. Like, the quote I included at the top? I laughed for way too long when I read that. Sam shook his head, but still laughed. That was one way Colby was different from him—a little wilder, a little more random, a little more impulsive than Sam was. Still, he admired him for it, though it could sometimes get them noticed in public. Love is something that most people cherish and wish to experience. But love is also something so twisted and maddening, that others wish to end it.

HOLY CRAP! This book is amazing! I read it all in one sitting & then had trouble falling asleep after. The Airbnb was quaint and cozy yellow with bright green shutters that matched the lush vegetation. Flowers in every color of the rainbow surrounded them, and palm trees stretched into blue skies beginning to clear from the rain. Speaking of characters, the introduction of Trey was...meh. I wish we could’ve gotten more insight on why Colby was so adamant about not liking Trey and why Nate was so gung ho to ditch their plans to go to the North side of the island for this guy they barely knew. Finding out that Colby didn’t like Trey because he said college was the only way to success was such an odd thing? Like, undoubtedly there’s been many people who would’ve said that, so does Colby also dislike everyone who’s said that or is there a more specific reason he didn’t like Trey? Just...👏🏻 more 👏🏻 inner 👏🏻 thoughts 👏🏻 please 👏🏻 and 👏🏻 thank 👏🏻 you 👏🏻 I read this in 4hours, I could not stop once I had started!!! My anxiety was through the roof and I'm about to deep dive to find out if this is all real. I am in utter disbelief. Read more The other big thing I made note of was that there was a lot of “tell, not show” throughout. There’s a heavy focus on dialogue to progress the story rather than seeing into the boys’ inner thoughts and using other means to find out information. (I’m not one to talk, though, since I also focus more on dialogue than description.) It sometimes made it difficult to fully get into the story. I struggled with developing a picture of what the Belle Estate looked like, or what the other characters (beside SNC, Nate, and Alex) looked like. In terms of the boys, it seemed very reliant on us knowing who Sam and Colby are and what they’re all about (which is fair, since probably 99.9% of people who bought the book are fans of them but, if they want success outside of their audience, it could’ve been more descriptive in that regard).

The characters in Paradise Island are well-developed and relatable. Sam and Colby's dynamic personalities shine through, and their friendship with Trey adds depth to the narrative. The inclusion of a wealthy and eccentric widow rumored to be a witch adds an intriguing layer to the story, creating a sense of unease and mystery. The characterization of all four of the boys is a bit 2D. Sam’s logical and wants to keep the peace, Colby’s emotional and more of a wildcard, Nate’s focused on his schoolwork and flexing his vocabulary, and Alex? Well, I couldn’t get a good read on Alex until he sells out SNC at the end of the novel and even then, he didn’t feel so much like his own character, more like someone just present to further the plot.Book 2- A prisoner is killing inmates inside prison and the case had gotten out of hand. Every other day an inmate drops. And they need someone to stop him.. Hear, hear. To friendship. Nate said, as Alex and Sam echoed him, and together they raised and clinked all four glasses. And to Kauai. In addition to the popular Sam and Colby channel, Colby has his own YouTube account. Colby’s own channel, which he created in 2016, features a wide range of prank videos, exploration videos, vlogs, and other content. On the platform, he also features a number of other content creators. Visiting the North Shore had been a bizarre and unsettling experience, to say the least, but when they got home after vacation was over, he was going to suggest to Colby that they make a video about it.

Sam Golbach is one-half of Sam & Colby, a dynamic combo. During their high school summer band camp, Sam and Colby met as freshman band nerds. When they realized they both wanted the same girl but were both too nervous to approach her, they resolved to help each other build confidence. The two embarked on a 6-year journey to attain both self-assurance and happiness. I don’t care how many bars I have. Sam stared at the little picturesque house in the jungle. This. This was why he worked hard. I didn’t come to Kauai for the internet. Alex closed his eyes, crossed his ankles, and feigned sleep. I say we hang out here the rest of the day and hit the beach tomorrow.Since Nate had to leave early in a few days for his sister’s graduation, Sam knew his FOMO was starting to bubble up. Confirmed. Don’t worry, we won’t have any fun without you. Sam and Colby collaborated on their debut book, Paradise Island, which will be released in late 2020. “When YouTube ghost hunters Sam and Colby fly to Kauai for an annual bro vacation with two childhood friends, they’re desperate for a break from paranormal investigations—instead, they find themselves at the center of their most frightening mystery yet,” according to a Barnes and Noble book excerpt.
