I love seeing the children increase their confidence on their bikes and Mr H has enjoyed being able to get in on the act with his very own 5-in-1 Recliner Infinity from smarTrike. I’ve never used a smarTrike before with the other two, but know that they are hugely popular and we have been thrilled to be part of the #smartdiscoveries campaign. Doona trike. The absolute best things I've ever bought for my toddler. Quite pricey but worth every penny imo.” (Tried and tested by Mumsnet user AYearOfCushions) Our verdict We tested the trike on a walk and a trip round the local garden centre and found it handled both pavements and narrow aisles with ease, the breaks also came in handy. We also took it on a several long walks to the local park and found it went well on grass and graded paths a like, the steering was easy and it didn’t feel too heavy to push about. The trike looks very stylish and I loved the neutral grey and red colours on our version, which I think will work great when it converts to a trike later on. Many Mumsnet users say they favour balance bikes over tricycles, citing the transition to pedalling as being much easier (and often shorter) thanks to the absence of training wheels right from the get-go.

By three years old, you’re looking at more of a traditional type of trike, with handlebars and pedals, or possibly a balance bike style where they push themselves along with their feet on the ground. There’s a little bag attached to the parent handle, big enough for a couple of nappies and some wet wipes, my phone and wallet, which is great as there’s no need to take additional bags with when you’re going for a walk, and there’s also a cupholder, perfectly sized for a bottle of water, or a standard take-away coffee size. This looks so cool! It’s so daft but I’ve never actually considered how uncomfortable prams can be for babies as they get older. If I had a small human I would be getting one of these immediately! Reply would use it to walk down the seafront , give my child a feeling of independance rather than being pushed in a buggy she can pedal away and feel all clever with herselfI love walking and take my children and our labrador dog out DAILY for walks- all year round. The only weather that stops us taking the stroller out is deep snow (when I cannot push it!!) Even when it rains – we still go out and splash in the puddles!!! Afterall, our labrador still needs to go out and the fresh air and exercise keeps us all healthy! Two things really caught my eye when I first found out I was reviewing this trike, the reclining seat and the parent tray on the handles. I have to say the reclining seat really makes this trike, I was dubious to see whether a child really could ‘nap’ on the bike, but when my daughter got tired on a long walk I reclined the seat and sure enough she drifted off and the shoulder straps helped keep her in place without slouching. I would recommend this trike to friends and family just on this feature alone! The parent tray however I was really disappointed in and not really sure what the point of it is – on the face of it, it looks like a brilliant feature handy to put a drink or a phone but the problem happens when you want to actually use the trike as soon as you turn to steer everything in the tray falls out. Assembly – consider opting for a trike that requires little to no assembly so your child can get riding straight away. And for trikes that can be adapted as your child grows look at whether you need specific tools to make adjustments or if they’re easy to do on-the-go.

New and used items, cars, real estate, jobs, services, vacation rentals Mookie Toys already took the Trike world by storm last year when they first launched the original Smart Trike Recliner in Red and wowed everyone at the Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nurnberg. The Trike certainly created a lot of interest and Mookie Toys were overwhelmed then they were presented with the prestigious Toy Innovation Award 2009 – Winning Category ‘Fun + Sport. The scratch-free wheels mean it stays in good condition so should be good for a hand-me-down and its front-wheel steering makes it really easy for toddlers to move exactly where they want to go. The folding system means it can also go in the car for holidays and trips out easily and can be stored away between children. We like the fact that it can be used both indoors and out, making it an ideal choice for parents in need of a budget-friendly all-rounder to keep kids busy during playtime. The STR5 starts out as a stroller designed for babies as young as 9 months and grows with your child in 6 stages, finally turning into a fully independent trike. Tyres – a grippy set of wheels and puncture-proof tyres are best suited to rough terrain, so if you plan to use the trike on the grass in your local park, then opt for a trike with large wheels. Our 1 year old has Down’s Syndrome, although he is our joy & his older siblings adore him he is struggling with his physical development. This would make our family countryside walks more fun for him, keeping him safe & upright yet in a fun & exciting way. The user smart trike recliner instruction manual may have several name.
