Move with purpose and gravity. Nazgul are known for their slow, deliberate movements, exuding an aura of dread and inevitability. Step 2: Deep, Menacing Voice Our family dressed as characters from the movie trilogy The Lord of the Rings. My daughters and I were a little limited on choice, and my toddler had to be a hobbit, obviously. But my husband had many awesome characters from which to choose. And it was a hard choice. He loves the character of Aragon, who doesn’t. But he decided the costume he really wanted to make and wear was a Nazgul. It’s ironic that I dressed as Eowyn. Nazgul and Hobbits: Combine the menace of the Nazgul with the innocence of the Hobbits, such as Frodo, Pippinand Sam, for a contrasting group theme. Nazgul and Sauron: A classic villain duo. While one embodies the Nazgul, another can don the armor of Sauron, creating an intimidating pair. As better reference came available, we were able to subtly refine the details that now appear in our latest incarnations of these pieces.

Cut the blade shape (2 inches x 40 inches) along the lines drawn on the blade. I used a bandsaw to cut out the shape. Shape the Blade of the Sword Duel of Good and Evil: Pair up with friends as iconic heroes and villains from the series, like Arwenand the Witch-King, or Eowyn and Sauron. Imagine what a symphony of metal would sound like. Hearing the approach of this full leg armour is as intimidating to hear as it is to see.Lovers of Unique and Impactful Costumes: The Nazgul stand out in any setting, making this costume perfect for those who want to leave a lasting impression. Among the Nazgul, the Witch-King of Angmar, their leader, stands out. His confrontations with key characters, such as Frodo Baggins, and his role in major battles like the Siege of Gondor, highlight his significance. Notably, his fate was sealed not by a man, as foretold in prophecy, but by Éowyn, a brave woman of Rohan. Symbolism and Impact These are my favorite quotes as spoken by my favorite character, the Witch-King in the LOTR-trilogy. Good thing most of it was silk, or they wouldn't have been able to even lift their swords, let along get the horses to carry them! Maintain an air of enigma. The Nazgul are creatures of shadow and secrecy. Be sparing with your words and actions, letting others be drawn into the mystery of your character. Step 4: Wield Your Sword Sparingly

Steel armor gloves will add to the costume's imposing presence. These should cover your entire hands and complement the dark, foreboding aesthetic of your robe and helmet. Step 5: Finishing Touches it`s such a great shot of the head .They are,as are all the costumes, excellent.I`m sure i read somewhere or heard it on the dvd extras that PJ had originally wanted to do the Ringwraith`s like he did death in The Frighteners, but for some reason they changed to actors.Personally i think this way was perfect. Thanks again Arwens daughter for another excellent costume post. left) The Kropserkel Nazgûl costume on guard at The Royal Ontario Museum's Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers exhibit (2001). The WitchKing, leader of the nine, wore a variant of the armour that defined his stature. This version of the gauntlets have sweeping hooked gadlings and have 4 metacarpal plates before the wrist (instead of 5). At this point, we were able to identify that the vambraces were 3 articulated plates with a splayed ridge motif, unlike the chevroned vambrace of another. The WK plates feature more dramatic webbing than the other Nazgûl versions. Now the part I really love. Apply Rub and Buff in pewter or silver to the top edges of the hot glue gun bead on the crossguard and handle. The best way to make Rub and Buff work is to apply it with your finger then rub over it with a cloth to make the metal shine. That’s where the name comes from, first you “rub” it on, then you “buff” it to a shine. Cover the Sword Handle with Leather

This photo shows a close-up of the finished sword hilt so you can see all three parts assembled together and finished. The Nazgûl version of the leg armour features a larger, splayed like platform from the knee cop (below). The Nazgul costume, with its dark allure and menacing presence, is a perfect choice for those who revel in the rich lore of "The Lord of the Rings" and enjoy embodying a character that exudes power and mystery. This costume is particularly suited for enthusiasts who appreciate the art of detailed cosplay and the challenge of bringing a non-human character to life. Ideal Candidates for the Nazgul Costume Cut a notch in the top of the handle so that it slips over the crossguard. Next slip the blade through the hole in the crossguard and use wood glue to attach. Then slide the notch of the handle over the crossguard and use wood glue to connect these parts. Clamp everything and let it dry overnight. Make the Sword Design Look MetalMatching the gothic style of the gauntlets, this armour is formed in 16 gauge steel and is an intricate assembly of perfectly fitting laminations and components; feet (sabatons), shins (greaves), knees and upper thighs (cuisses). Shown above is the Witch King version of the legs. There are notable differences between the Witch King and Nazgûl versions of the leg armour; The Witch King's armour has a different knee fan or wing that splays on the outside of each leg, and a pointed and smooth sabaton (foot). Reading: I, Robot - Isaac Asimov, The letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, Sense and Sensibility - Jane Austen Now that, my friends, is what I would call above and beyond the call of duty. I'd love to see the original kingly drawing of which she speaks, too! The Nazgul sword my husband made is actually wood. It looks metal. It looks battle-worn. It’s taller than my son. And it’s actually a piece of wood. You need to read the full Nazgul Sword post if you want to see how he made it. Everyone that sees that sword in real-life wants to hold it. And swing it around. And stab something. It’s awesome.

Your Nazgul ensemble isn't complete without this fearsome weapon. Choose a sword with a long, curved blade, resembling the ones carried by the Ringwraiths. A dark, metallic finish will give it an authentic, menacing appearance. Step 4: Nazgul Gauntlets The Witch King version of the leg armour features an ornate fan like platform from the knee cop (left). The gloves or gauntlets are actually made out of foam and painted to look like metal. Again, you’ll have to read the whole Nazgul Gauntlets posts to see how he made them. I think foam is his favorite material right now. It’s easy to work with. You can create anything with it. Plus it’s not uncomfortable to wear. I can’t imagine wearing those gauntlet made out of metal. Ouch.Dressing up as a Nazgul offers fantastic opportunities for group costumes. Here are a few ideas to consider: The Armies of Middle-Earth: Create an army scene with friends dressed as the Rohirrim, Elves, Uruk-hai, and other races.
