When I first read Wuthering Heights I thought the story was so strong. This young girl in an era when the female role was so inferior and she was coming out with this passionate, heavy stuff. Great subject matter for a song.

Kate sings a line. The 5:18 version was included on a 1990 CD compilation "WWF Project El Dorado - Saving The Tropical Rainforest" A-side originally recorded in Nov 1979, produced by Kate Bush and Jon Kelly. It was never released, but was updated in early Nov 1980 Part of a 45 min BBC Kate Bush Christmas special. This song is otherwise unreleased. (Originally written by Roy Harper) Recorded early Feb 1979. Music written by Maurice Jarre, lyrics by Paul Webster, arranged and performed by Kate Bush. Video withdrawn soon after its release.

The vinyl albums – all Kate’s studio work – will be released in 4 separate boxes, the first two on November 16 and the latter two on November 30. The CD boxes will be staggered on the same dates. Song written by Kate Bush, released as her debut single in January 1978. She wrote the song after seeing the last ten minutes of the 1967 BBC mini-series based on the book ‘Wuthering Heights’, written by Emily Brontë. Reportedly, she wrote the song within the space of just a few hours late at night. The actual date of writing is estimated to be March 5, 1977.
