I also attempted at one point to make one big sheet and just cut the bases out after, so the unit could tie together on a display board. This was a pain in the ass and I don’t recommend it, I ended up spending too much time detailing up dead space between the bases. Lastly, and this is true for all gangs, don’t feel constrained to paint all your weapons the same. Unlike a Space Marine squad with standard-issue bolters, gang weapons might come from different factories, or be scavenged from the battlefield or sport after-market additions. So always keep this in mind as another opportunity to personalize your models. I still have another five eschers on sprue, but I might get some FW weapons to get some more interesting guns because I am not really feeling additional duplicate load outs. I honestly am a collector more than a player so I doubt I will have a super effective gang, but it will look cool! Conclusion Loincloths: Almost every Escher model has a loincloth of some sort and this blank canvas is ideal for personalizing models. Whether it’s varying up the colors of the loincloths or going all out with free-hand patterns like zebra stripes or leopard spots (or maybe something tied to your gang’s theme), this is a great way to differentiate your gangers.

Forge World Characters Mercator Palidus Corpse Harvesting Party Genestealer Cults have no dedicated gang expansions, but Aberrantsand Acolyte Hybrids are great candidates for expansions, and you also have to find a Genestealer hero to be your Alpha or Adept. Vehicles You kinda have to play around with this a lot until you like it, which is SUPER subjective, but try to think about shapes that extend off the side – it’s gonna look weird if the design is always centered. I found that 2-3 layers of Cool Shapes was about enough. If you left gaps down to the bare plastic of the base, buddy that also counts as a layer.

Painting an Escher Gang

Palanite Enforcer gangs have access to the same generic Vehicles and Wasteland Workshop options as other gangs. Upgrade Sets Feathers: Lastly, feathers are everywhere on Escher models and are another great way to personalize. Maybe juves and gangers get plain colored feathers while champs and gangers get wildly-colored feathers from exotic fauna. Or maybe your gang uses feathers dipped in blood to mark kills, Ezio Auditore style, who knows! The Ironhead Squat Prospectors haven’t yet received an expansion for the standard kit, and since they’re not one of the major House gangs, it’s not a given that they’ll receive one. Vehicles One of my goals with this project was to replace my usual low-effort “Citadel texture paint” or “glued down sand” basing with something a little more involved, and I thought how that went might be relevant to the Internet’s interests. Outcasts don’t have any faction-specific Vehicles, but they’re the perfect candidates for building their own Vehicles in the Wasteland Workshop, since they’ve already got the DIY mindset for it. Upgrade SetsI mix Rust Texture and Oiled Earth about 2:1 to loosen up the Rust Texture a bit and get it to spread easier and then paint it into the lowest recesses where all the dirt and grime would accumulate the most. If you get a little outside the lines, don't worry about it too much. Enforcer ‘Sanctioner’ Pattern Automata Then it’s down to business with some stippling. I have yet to write a tutorial that doesn’t involve stippling - it’s my favourite technique for adding texture and depth to a surface, and as far as I’m concerned it’s the most woefully overlooked weapon in the miniature painter’s arsenal.
