Description

The six part series “Thorne”, first broadcast on Sky One, is based on the first two novels in the series Sleepyhead and Scaredy Cat and I was thrilled with how it turned out. Aside from the wonderful David Morrissey, who has always been the actor I wanted to play Tom Thorne, the series featured Aiden Gillen, Eddie Marsan, Natascha McElhone and Sandra Oh: an amazing cast! When a serial killer targets London street people in British author Billingham's gritty fifth police procedural to feature detective Tom Thorne (after 2005's Burning Girl), Thorne, a psychological Continue reading » One of the killers is caught after a failed attempt on the life of the son of another victim. He confesses to his crimes, but refuses to identify his partner. Thorne decides to free him in an attempt to force the other killer to come forward.

Scaredy Cat - Mark Billingham

Three British couples meet by chance during a vacation in Sarasota, Fla., in this intricate psychological thriller from Billingham (Die of Shame). They share fruity drinks and promise to Continue reading » The crook is.... - stalking/killing innocents Crime Thriller - Yes Murder Mystery (killer unknown) - Yes Main Character Gender - Male Readers who like a powerful police procedural with strong characters, will want to read this superb tale. This is a winner.London Detective Tom Thorne is churlish and depressing when he is in what he would consider a good mood, quite a rarity for this cop. However, when he becomes involved in a homicide the police receive the best out of him professionally, but his behavior turns atrocious. His current case leads him to suffer from the Grand Canyon of misery when two murders with the identical MO occurs at approximately the same time in different parts of the city. One of the victims is a mother whose three-year-old watched her die. Taut, gripping and stylish. Billingham delivers a chilling exploration of power and submission. Unputdownable. Genuine edge-of-the-seat stuff. Billingham keeps the reader guessing as to the principal killer’s true identity right to the very end. Television and film adaptations must surely follow. With last year’s auspicious thriller debut (Sleepyhead), Billingham has given himself a tough act to follow. But the return of London detective Tom Thorne is most welcome, and this novel is every bit as intense and creepy as the first.
