Although, all in all, this isn’t a huge upgrade in terms of performance or quality. And most racers wouldn’t notice a difference between the two pedals.

Fanatec wheels are perfect if you're looking for a supremely accurate and immersive racing experience. Fanatec's options tend to be on the pricier side. But you'll usually get a lot of extra bells and whistles as a result. What is the best budget F1 racing wheel? Fanatec makes some of the best, and most expensive, racing wheels going. The Fanatec CSL Elite is actually one of its more affordable models, made with a mainstream audience in mind, not least because it supports consoles rather than just the PC. Important: logitech steering wheels, compared to others, are more complex to disassemble. Modify your steering wheel if you're sure of where to put your hands.

Whether Fanatec or Thrustmaster is the better racing wheel brand will ultimately come down to your personal tastes and budget.

In terms of the pedals, only the brake feels different from the G29/G920. The G923 now has a progressive spring under the brake that makes it harder to depress the further you stomp on it (the G29/G920 has a rubber stopper, which is an effective but cruder solution to simulate the building hydraulic force of a brake pedal – although it creates a distinct two-stage effect where you can feel the pedal first hit the stopper). Just like the previous generation of Logitech racing wheels, the G923 comes in two forms. An Xbox compatible wheel, and a PS4 and PC compatible wheel. Unlike the previous generation, both of these variants look identical and use the same naming convention. As a result, the Hori is also much lighter than any other wheel here. You’ll still need something to clamp it to, but this is the one wheel here that won’t seem hard done by if it’s not treated to a proper frame or wheel stand. Despite this, unlike some Thrustmaster wheels, this racing wheel oozes extra quality in both design and build. This added quality, combined with the superb game and console support, does lead us to recommend this racing wheel for new sim racers.

How is the Logitech G923 different from the G29?

I’m almost certain every sim racer will support this over time, but that support network isn’t there just yet. Fanatec’s pedals are excellent, with seriously tough metal frames and proper progressive brakes, and you can even choose how stiff the brake is. It goes so stiff, in fact, that to really get the most out of the CSL Elite you want a frame into which you screw the pedals. But the price alone tells you this is an enthusiast wheel.
