They also have an excellent reputation for being able to handle loud environments, and my testing proved that this was indeed the case. This results in a clear, tight bass that packs a surprising amount of punch considering the size of the ear cups, together with a smooth top end absent of any harshness, but not lacking in detail thanks to another slight lift around the 10kHz mark. These aren’t your standard set of consumer headphones designed to pump up the volume when you’re chilling on the train.

Very good shielding, comfortable fit even with long sets, high volume, long durability and, last but not least, compactness and low weight for on the go. The headband is split down the middle and connected by hinges, so it can be adjusted to look and feel like one single headband, or two thinner bands, one pushed forward on the head and the other backward, for an extremely stable fit. On Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild," the HD 25 Aluminum delivers the mix with a focus on the mids. These are headphones made for audio professionals, with unbeatable, mind-blowing accuracy in the audio. Designed for absolute comfort and tuned to deliver outstanding sound quality for mixing and monitoring music, they’re also built to last.Comfortable, premium-feel open-backed cans with a natural sound, super-wide stereo image and replaceable components. Before that, the HD25 cans were intended for airline passengers and pilots, to assist with reducing the loud engine noise of the Concorde flights in the 80s. The next thing to do is to try the headphones on a different audio source to check that it is not the original audio source (or a setting on the audio source) that is creating the issue. I wonder why Sennheiser, and other brands think people who could use this in a studio or even for DJ use would want to hear the bass so incredibly wrong. You will have more protection and focus in loud environments with these headphones ear pads, but you might not enjoy the listening experience much.

NOTE: Many modern audio devices have audio limit pre-set at the factory and these limit need to be changed to get the full audio signal out of the device and to the headphones. While I still recommend you look after your headphones, it’s nice not to have to treat them like fine glassware!Keep in mind that these DJ headphones are available to listen to either with dual cans or used with only one ear. They’re capable of handling a very high sound pressure level, and the rotatable capsule for single-ear listening makes for ideal monitoring headphones. The on-ear design and slimline split headband combine well to provide a firm yet comfortable fit, while the low weight ensures no harsh contact points. Check out some other alternatives that offer a few different features compared to the Sennheiser HD25. Despite the tight grip and on-ear design, these hold up pretty well even if you wear glasses, but some might prefer more plush over-ear cups over this style.
