Of course I enjoyed her musings on the power of “Native American” teachings. “We recommend that all of you intend that the Native American teachings come your way. Begin to explore them through sweat lodges, drumming, dancing, and so on. This will awaken many things in you and teach you much about Earth. You are coded to ritual; when you perform ritual, your body begins to remember who you are and what you know” (pg. 169). In other words, attend some Pow Wows and catch the spirit! I wanted to have a "this is who you are book" for when I take a new shell (new body) and forget everything again. As a kid I didn't really like the idea of being human... I liked her exposition on the perils of media and television. “We strongly recommend that you get rid of your television sets. They are the primary tool used to manipulate your consciousness on a day-to-day basis. The use of subliminals to upset human consciousness has become a worldwide program” (pg. 91). She has a BA in social science, and is the publisher and editor of the quarterly newsletter The Pleiadian Times. Her extensive worldwide travels, astrological studies, and a lifetime of alternative free thinking augment her personal understanding of the material she channels.

Despite all the looney tunes, there were moments of clarity and some interesting perspectives in this book: the idea that our thoughts determine reality, present mindedness, discussions of harmonious vibration (not totally sure what that is), as well as tips on dealing with painful emotions. It was kind of uplifting...in a really out-there way. Startling, intense, intelligent, and controversial, these teachings offer essential reading for anyone questioning their existence on this planet and the direction of our collective conscious — and unconscious. By remembering that we are Family of Light, that we share an ancient ancestry with the universe around us, we become "bringers of the dawn," consciously creating a new reality, a new Earth. Compiled from more than four hundred hours of channeling by Barbara Marciniak, Bringers of the Dawn imparts to us the wisdom of the Pleiadians, a group of enlightened beings who have come to Earth to help us discover how to reach a new stage of evolution. You get the gist. Some good ol’ self help stuff, which, as someone who grew up in inner city slums entrenched in violence, is something I’m always in need of. Peep game:

Lol. I like the chutzpah! Bringers of the Dawn offers key teachings about the original records of the Earth that are filled with power, love, and clear intention about how to participate in the magnificent new time of birthing the original genius of our planet.” Overall, there’s a positive message here that I can’t be mad at. A lot of this seems like Rhonda Byrne’s ‘The Secret’, fifteen years before that book came out. This is the idea of thought manifestation, or what she calls “superconsciousness”.
