About this deal

At first sight, I thought that the DMT KR3 road cycling shoes would be a bit long and narrow for a comfortable fit for my pretty average feet. That’s not the case though. The front of the sole unit is wide enough to support the forefoot well and there’s plenty of give in the knitted uppers to conform to your foot. There’s a bit of a mismatch between DMT’s European and UK sizes, with the size 42.5 being marked as an 8, whereas I’d have expected it to be a UK 8.5. So I started off with a size 43 as I thought that the 42.5 would be too small for my feet.

Cycling shoes can also vary wildly in fit (we’ve got a guide to wide cycling shoes) and intended use. It would be easy to throw lots of money at the problem and end up with a set of shoes that don’t suit your unique foot shape or riding style. Unlike the more expensive KR1 shoes, the DMT KR3 shoes utilize a single top mounted BOA IP1 dial closure system. The dial placement is a few inches from the ankle with a traditional two row lacing pattern. Although we’d prefer a multi-zone dual-dial closure system, the single dial design works well with the knitted upper material. As you tighten the shoes the elastic center section compresses and distributes the tension on the shoe. Compared to dual dial shoes such as the FLR F-XX Knit, the KR3s don’t offer as much adjustability in the toe box as much as we would have preferred. The glossy carbon fiber sole not only looks great but it also provides a stiff yet forgiving platform to transfer power to the bike. COMFORT Please enclose all your details and a covering note explaining the fault and any other useful details.

Everyone speaks of the knit uppers of DMT shoes (and rightly so), but it is particularly the outsoles and insole combined that shine for me here. Huge arches, which you will want to press your feet against, as they feel just so comfortable, with some gentle cushioning and a really brilliant shape. These are the same as the KR1s', and you get them at a lower price point here. I have a wide foot (11cm at 28.5cm length, fits well) . I forget I have them on, the footbed works for me. It's a bit different from my other shoes as it is more like a chamois. I have a size 45, (sidi / gaerne in 46 for comparison. These are too long to fit my foot in width-wise). Would be able to use lake in wide, tried them but stopped after 3 pairs with manufacturing faults. After riding in wet conditions stuff the shoes with dry paper or cloth to soak up any excess moisture and allow to dry in a warm (not hot) place, which is well-ventilated and out of direct sunlight Made with high-end Toray MR-60 carbon fibers, it has nine rigid layers, all oriented as required; in addition to perforations on the insole and two large vents on the toe. Carbon is also placed in the buttress on the heel. The 100% 3D upper is ideally elastic and therefore adapts to all types of feet, whether wide or thin. Comfort is therefore ultimate. Combined with the BOA IP-1 system, the shoe is perfectly held at the feet and becomes ideal for running. The various anchor points are positioned in certain strategic locations, to always maximize stability, comfort and guarantee more performance for users Faulty items should be returned within a reasonable time and in a clean and dry condition. PLEASE NOTE, WE WILL NOT PROCESS DIRTY ITEMS.

There are three main closure systems in use today. The most popular are Velcro straps or wire laces with micro-adjustable dials (Boa and similar). Q36.5, i dont have the DMT's anymore. I did try several sizes of the DMT's before the actual riding with the best possible size. cant remember for sure but that was probably a 45 too. DMT have combined the incredible fit and comfort of their engineered 3D knit construction with the added adjustability and support of a Hybrid construction. The forefoot knit construction combined with a microfibre instep and heel offer excellent support. The double BOA dial means you can easily tune in your fit. For hygiene reasons, any intimate garments such as facemasks, underwear and swimsuits can only be returned if the items are faulty. DMT KM4 shoes – Final Thoughts

If you live somewhere where the weather is invariably cold and wet, it’s worth considering whether those sorts of shoes are really the right choice, or if you’d be better off with something more robust. Do cycling shoes make a difference? ANKLE COLLAR: Soft micro fibre rear with Elasticated rib knit for perfect comfort and adherence to the leg With its full knit construction, DMT have created a very light shoe with great breathability that has just enough stretch to perfectly match your foot shape. Full Engineered Knit upper combined with the BOA Fit System and DMTs aerated carbon outsole make this a race ready shoe that you will barely feel on your feet. Cycling shoes and clipless pedals are the biggest upgrade you can make when you’re new to road cycling. The Boa dial is a popular closing mechanism for cycling shoes, alongside the more classic Velcro. David Caudery / Immediate Media

With its full knit construction, DMT have created a very light shoe with great breathability that has just enough stretch to perfectly match your foot shape. Full Engineered Knit upper combined with the BOA Fit System and DMT’s aerated carbon outsole make this a race ready shoe that you will barely feel on your feet. For reference, I chose a size EU 45. My foot length is about 28-28.4cm. My width at widest point is 9.8cm with a circumference of 23.8cm. 70kg body weight, 180cm height. Used with Shimano 105 R7000 pedals and yellow cleats. Occasionally, you even get a combination of both. Velcro straps have the advantage of being cheap, effective and easy to use, so you’ll often find these on lower-end shoes. On higher-end shoes, Boa and other similar dial systems tend to dominate due to their ability to precisely control fit. Engineered 3D Knit features multi-layer construction which flexes and conforms to the individual shape of each rider’s foot, offering a truly comfortable and customised fit. The sole stiffness: The KR3 is in the middle of DMT’s stiffness range, so this carbon outsole is the next level up from the KR4 and KT4. I can get slight flex while walking on concrete and bearing my weight on one foot, but not while riding. It could be the cleat. The KR3's soles are very rigid.
